As we prepare for another season, be on the lookout for the upcoming Top 250 Expos in your region. In the mean time, the staff will be hitting you with several preseason nuggets. Below is a rundown of 10 impact transfers around the DMV region. ICYMI, Colby Giacubeno highlighted five impact transfers from the MIAA A Conference.
MAX BROOKS | 6’6 F | ST. CHARLES ’20
Brooks will be a welcomed addition to an already talented roster at St. Charles. He is an athletic forward who should provide energy, rebounding, and rim protection from day one.
DAVID BROWN III | 6’5 G | BISHOP MCNAMARA ’21
The internet almost broke on Tuesday when Colby Giacubeno announced that Brown had transferred to McNamara. This is because he is coming off a breakout sophomore year and should be able to help give the Mustangs a major boost this upcoming season.
RYAN CORNISH | 6’3 G | SIDWELL FRIENDS ’21
As we saw during the summer, Sidwell was in dire need of a shot-making guard. After the news broke that Cornish had transferred there, it instantly seemed like a match made in heaven.
GUY FAUNTLEROY | 6’0 G | RIVERDALE BAPTIST ’21
Fauntleroy will finally get his opportunity to run the show as the primary ball-handler for a majority of the time. Last year at Rock Creek, he split those duties with DeLonnie Hunt, but this year we will see what he can do.
JORDAN HAWKINS | 6’5 G | DEMATHA ’21
Hawkins was one of the best players in the state at Gaithersburg last year, and he should fit in seamlessly with the Stags. He’s not ball dominant, but can make shots with minimal touches and plays the right way.
GARRETT JOHNSON | 6’6 G | EPISCOPAL ’21
Johnson will be one of the most dangerous shooters in the IAC this season. He should partner well with the likes of Darius Johnson and Tymu Chenery.
TJ HORTON | 6’5 SF | TC WILLIAMS ’20
Horton will bring good experience with him back to the public school ranks as he spent the last two seasons at Paul VI. The Titans should be a sleeper team with some upside in year two under Darryl Prue.
JORDAN RAYFORD | 6’5 G | BISHOP WALSH ’21
Rayford is expected to pair in the backcourt with Jalen Miller and play a national schedule after coming an All-MAC campaign at GDS. He has good potential on both ends of the floor and should gain some valuable experience this season.
DEVON SAVAGE | 6’4 SF | RIVERDALE BAPTIST ’21
Savage will be a primary scoring option for the Crusaders this season. His ability to stretch the floor will be welcomed alongside the dynamism of Fauntleroy.
YA’QIN STATON | 6’3 G | FRIENDSHIP TECH ’21
As we saw during DC Live, Staton is healthy and looking ready to make an impact once again. After spending his first two seasons at Rock Creek Christian, expect him to break out this year while providing big time shot-making and toughness.
