We took info from coaches, other media members, and debates between the Prep Hoops VA team to come up with some of the top 150 kids in the state. Remember, these rankings are based on where the kids play high school basketball, they are ranked on projected value at the COLLEGIATE level and they will continue to be updated before and during the high school season.
Here’s a look at part two of some of the new faces in the 2020 rankings.
#100) Clint Wright Jr. | 6’0” G | Lakeland
A super skilled combo, Wright has the ability to be both a scorer and a playmaker with the ball in his hands. He has good range on his jump shot, he can create space off the bounce to get his shot off and he makes the right decisions when attacking the defense.
#102) Thomas Balistrere | 6’1” PG | Langley
A fundamental guard with good size, Balistrere would fit in perfectly at most small schools with his ability to shoot it and play the game the right way. He isn’t overly athletic but he’s strong with the ball, he shoots it well and doesn’t force things when making plays for others.
#104) Jaden Keasey | 6’4” F | Menchville
The perfect glue guy for a talented team, Keasey brings a mix of size and skill set that fits perfectly with Menchville and many other styles. He’s an inside-out guy who understands the game, rebounds the ball and makes shots from a number of levels.
#107) Gill Williamson | 6’8” PF | St. Chris
Williamson is a relatively unknown guy who just started taking basketball seriously in the past few seasons. He’s sprouted over time to a legit 6’8”, he’s a natural athlete who can run the floor and finish above the rim and he has the ability to protect the rim as well.
#113) Chris Miers | 6’0” G | Chantilly
Miers had a strong summer with the Nova Cavs and should be a guy who is being recruited heavily by smaller schools. He’s a surprisingly good athlete who can finish above the rim and is a good defender, he shoots the basketball well and he understands the game and makes good decisions that doesn’t hurt his team.
#115) Trent Dawson | 6’1” PG | Loudoun Valley
I’ll be the first to admit I may have Dawson too low from lack of seeing him, but when I do see him I’m impressed with his all-around skill set at the point guard position. He’s crafty and smooth with the ball in his hands, he can make shots off the catch or the bounce and he’s an excellent decision maker and playmaker when he gets downhill.
#122) Tyce McNair | 5’11” PG | East Rockingham
McNair is one of the better prospects in the Harrisonburg area and continues to get better with time. He’s a lefty guard who has good quickness and strength, can get in the lane at will and also has the ability to make shots off the catch.
