Formerly a wide receiver commit at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Jack Foreman switched gears after graduation and is now focused on competing on a college basketball team next year.
The 2019 graduate was an instrumental piece in leading Del City to a 5A State Championship appearance last year, where the Eagles were pithing single-digits of knocking down the most impressive Oklahoma 5A dynasty of the 2010s in Tulsa Memorial, who completed a three-peat with the victory of Del City.
“I just thought about it, talked with friends, family,” said Foreman, “my pastor, he said, ‘do what’s going to make you happy. Do what’s going to make you proud at the end of the day.'”
That’s when, Foreman said, he decided his path would diverge from the path set out for him.
Now competing for Oklahoma Wolfpack, Foreman is determined to achieve his goal of playing basketball at the next level.
Standing at 6-foot-2-inches, Foreman is an intriguing combo guard with top-level speed. He has the ball-handling skills to create his own shot, but he doesn’t even believe that is his best skill.
“I can get anybody open no matter what defense they’re in,” Foreman said. “Most teams know how I play, so they’re going to draw in and key on me. Within that, all I gotta do is kick to my shooters on the corner.”
If the defense doesn’t collapse, Foreman said, he can get an “easy layup or a pull-up.”
This summer, Foreman has been focused on staying in shape, improving his left-hand and being more consistent with his jumper, Foreman said.
