Isaiah Williams 6’2″ Knights Basketball Academy: The lefty wing from Lutheran North was one of the most impressive and confident bucket-getters that I watched during the weekend. He scored 31 points in one game in which he excelled from all three levels and scored in an efficient manner. He can make 3-pointers off the catch, which makes it tough for defenders to stop what he does best, which is to slash and sliver his way to the basket for floaters and layups.
Mario Fleming 6’3″ Team Ramey CCM: The power guard from Cardinal Ritter was strong in helping lead his team to the 16U championship game. He scored a game-high 23 points in the championship game as he sparked his team’s rally from a 24-point deficit to a near-victory. When he attacks the basket, he is nearly unstoppable with his strength and ability to finish around the basket. His ball handling and ability to hit perimeter shots continues to improve to compliment his power game.
Brock Wakefield 6’3″ Gateway: The slender sniper from South Iron showcased his 3-point shooting range with a number of jumpers from deep as he helped lead Gateway to the Final Four of the 17U division. He’s gained about 15 pounds since the end of the season and that has helped him be a little more effective in getting buckets off the dribble and playing through contact.
Aahmod Scarbrough 6’2″ Gateway: The athletic lefty from Hazelwood Central was one of the most impressive slashing threats in the tournament. He is constantly on the attack, whether he is in transition or in the half court offense. He is explosive and he plays with a high motor at both ends off the court. He will also knock down a 3-pointer on occasion to keep defenders honest.
Myles Estrada 6’0″ Larry Hughes Basketball Academy: A tough wing player from Francis Howell Central who helped LHBA to the 16U championship. He was very good from 3-point range as he moved well without the ball to get himself open. He is also tough and physical enough to get his share of buckets in the lane against opposing bigs.
Carter Hoog 6’2″ Knights Basketball Academy: A solid all-purpose wing player from Ste. Genevieve Valle who has a thick body and the strength to excel in the low post, yet he has the ball handling and perimeter skills to be an excellent playmaker. He’s tough and he has a high basketball IQ to go along with it.
Freddie Cooper 6’3″ Team Ramey CCM: A very athletic wing player from SLUH who made a few explosive plays during the weekend, including a windmill dunk on Saturday that turned a lot of heads. He had an active motor on both ends of the floor and did a good job offensively with his slashing ability.
Hasani Spann 6’0″ Team Ramey 2021:The Mini-Microwave from MICDS had a very productive tournament shooting the basketball, which included a couple of 20-point outings during the weekend. Playing on a team that excels in the up-tempo, he is able to get up a lot of open 3-pointers and he hits them. He will also take his opportunities off the dribble.
