Tahj Patterson 6’1″ Gateway: The Lutheran North point guard played an excellent floor game throughout the weekend in helping Gateway win the 17U championship. He did a nice job of running the pick and roll and making the right read from getting downhill for the layup or finding the open roll man to the basket or the shooter on the pick and pop. He made a lot of plays and not a lot of mistakes, plus his defense was solid as well.
Jaylen Boyd 6’1″ Team Ramey CCM: The physical point guard from Ladue enjoyed an excellent weekend in leading his team to the championship game. He had tight handles and could get to the basket on a regular basis for a strong finish at the rim. His ability to change speeds can keep defenders off balance. He did a nice job of knocking down open 3-pointers and he also displayed some explosiveness with a few big transition dunks. He also picked up an offer from Lindenwood University during the weekend.
Adam Sommer 6’3″ Arsenal Hoops Elite: The Parkway South standout had a good month of July and he spent much of the weekend playing off the ball, where he is also very effective as a shooter and bucket-getter. His strength and size enable him to handle pressure and contact while still able to get where he wants to go. His 3-point stroke was very effective from distance.
Zivaughn Ward 5’9″ Missouri Elite: An extremely quick point guard from Battle who plays fast, but always under control and making good decisions with the basketball. He helped the Elite win the Gold Division championship. He is very good in the up-tempo game with his passing and pace, plus he scores well in the transition game. He is very good to have in a two point-guard alignment.
Glenn Valentine 6’0″ Team Ramey CCM: A much improved point guard from Cardinal Ritter who displayed a lot of growth in his game during the grassroots season. He is a solid ball handler and defender, but he increased his offensive chops as the summer wore on. He became a very reliable threat from 3-point range.
Kyle Geraghty 5’11” Arsenal Hoops Elite: A solid pass-first point guard from Mehlville who will do a good job running the show and making sure the ball gets into the hands of the top scorers where they can operate and be most effective. He stays low on the dribble and can get into the lane. He will hit the open 3-pointer to keep defenders honest.
