Both things happened to a lot of the best players – from different classes – in the state of Tennessee.
I was able to get into contact with a lot of the top players in the state since then to ask them which schools have contacted them since the live period ended.
Here’s the list:
Kennedy Chandler, Briarcrest/Mokan Elite 17U (2021): Chandler had a solid week for Mokan Elite 17U. He led the AAU program to the Peach Jam 17U Championship. In the midst of it, he picked up offers from Memphis, Kansas, Oklahoma, Syracuse and Arizona. Chandler now has a total of 20 offers.
Marcellus Brigham Jr., Briarcrest/Hoop City 17U (2020): The 6-foot-5 forward landed offers from Kent State and Troy this week. His other offers are Georgia Southern and East Tennessee State.
Reese McMullen, Christian Brothers/Hoop City 16U (2021): The 6-2 guard picked up his first offer from Lipscomb.
Matthew Murrell, IMG Academy/ Team Thad 17U (2020): The 6-4 guard picked up offers from Texas and LSU. Murrell now has a total of 14 offers.
Chandler Jackson, Christian Brothers/Hoop City 16U (2022): The 6-4 point guard has yet to pick up an offer, but he’s receiving interests from Vanderbilt and Washington. Florida State, Ole Miss, Memphis and South Carolina have already been in contact with the rising sophomore.
Jalen Brown, Bluff City Legends 16U (2021): Vanderbilt, Missouri and Ole Miss have recently inquired about the 6-4 guard. Brown picked up offers this week from North Alabama and SMU. He also holds offers from Troy, Tennessee State, Tulsa, Oklahoma State and Chattanooga State Community College.
Zion Swader, Siegal/EAB 16U (2021): Swader picked up his first offer from Missouri Western. UT-Chattanooga and Western Kentucky were in Birmingham, Alabama last weekend at the Adidas Boys Summer Championships to see him play.
Grant Hurst, Cleveland/WHBH 16U (2021): University of Pennsylvania is the latest school to reach out to Hurst. He receiving other interests from Appalachian State, Navy, Lipscomb, Denver, UT-Chattanooga, Stetson, Kennesaw State and James Madison.
Kameron Jones, ECS/ Team Thad 16U (2021): Jones picked up his fourth offer this week from Evansville. His other three offers are South Alabama, Troy and Tennessee Tech. IUPUI and Belmont are showing interest.
Braxton Morris, Center Hill (2020): Morris’ recruitment is gradually picking up. He’s receiving interests from Mississippi Delta Community College, Northeast Mississippi Community College, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Philander Smith College and Dyersburg State.
Matthew Schneider, Siegal/EAB 16U (2021): UT-Chattanooga and Belmont were in Birmingham, Alabama to watch Schneider. Since June 15th, he has also been contacted by Missouri Western and North Alabama.
Cameron Matthews, Olive Branch/ Team Thad 17U (2020): The 6-5 senior wing picked up an offer from UAB this week. Missouri State and Fresno State reached out to him last week. Matthews holds other offers from Mississippi State, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Memphis and Ole Miss.
Ty Hurst, Knoxville Carter/Team Passion Elite 17U (2020): Army, Warren Wilson, UNC Pembroke, Campbell and Pikeville contacted Hurst last week. ETSU, Truett McConnell, Freed Hardeman, Catawba, Montclair State, Queens University and Loyola Marymount University are also showing interest.
Michael Malone Jr., Briarcrest/Bluff City Legends Gold 17U (2020): Alabama A&M, Virginia Military Institute, Morehead State, Campbell and West Carolina are showing interest in Malone Jr. His latest offer comes from Alcorn State. Malone Jr. has a total of seven offers.
Jesse Payne, Whitehaven/Bluff City Legends Gold 17U (2020): Payne has one offer from Reinhardt University. He’s receiving interests from Alcorn State, Alabama A&M, Henderson State and St. Edward’s University.
Decorian Payton, Center Hill/Bluff City Legends Gold 17U (2020): Jackson State, Alcorn State, North Georgia and Florida Southern are showing interest in the undersized big man.
