Previously, I did a dream team scenario by each class, but this team will be the 12 guys I’d want to coach. Class does not matter. Give me these 12 prospects, and we would make some serious noise.
The Starters
JD Davison- Id put JD at the 1. He is one the best overall athletes in the state and is a stat sheet stuffer. This kid has good size at 6’2-6’3 and plays team first. Let this guy pick a kid up full court and see what happens. JD is a dog who is not afraid of anyone.
Colby Jones- Jones is the state’s best player. The 6’5-6’6 guard has made a name for himself as a scorer and playmaker. High IQ. Positional size. Crafty off the bounce. Jones is not afraid to take big shots. Everyone needs that type of kid on their roster.
Barry Dunning- My starting 3 would be the 6’6 athlete from McGill-Toolen. Barry flies around on both ends of the court and just makes plays. He can score at all 3 levels and is a high level rebounder. Barry can defend 1-4 and play in different spots offensively.
Rongie Gordon- Rongie is the best option to start at the 4. He has a lot of Chuma Okeke in his game. This kid is a mismatch waiting to happen. He’s athletic, can stretch the floor, and has good size at 6’8. Rongie looks and plays like a man.
Cole Larue- I’m a fan of skilled bigs. Larue is a 6’9 stretch 5. He has solid vision, range to the 3pt line, and can put the ball on the floor in a limited count. This post is an underrated defender and also rebounds at a high level.
The Bench
Shannon Grant- Every team needs a big body off the bench. Grant is a 6’10 280 pound monster. He’s hard to keep off the glass and controls the paint. Grant is an underrated defender and is a solid screener. Getting him a post touch would keep teams honest.
Tommy Murr- How can you not have the nation’s leading scorer on your roster? Murr is a 6’1 combo guard who can score from anywhere on the court and plays with a high IQ. He moves very well without the ball, and opponents would have to find him at all times.
Giancarlo Valdez- Valdez deserves to be on anyone’s team. He can score at all 3 levels and make plays for others. This kid is super competitive, can play multiple positions, and is a very good defender. Valdez is focused on whatever his team needs for the win.
Riley Leonard- Leonard is a 6’4-6’5 wing with a knack for scoring. He is a really good athlete and can shoot the cover off the ball. You can never have enough shooting or guys that can play multiple spots on the floor. Leonard has great leadership qualities and knows how to play.
Trinity Bell- Bell is a 6’7 solid post. He has an old school feel to his game, and it is refreshing to see a post player embrace playing down low. This kid is a very good defender on/off the ball, rebounds at a high rate, and plays strong in the paint.
Keshawn Murphy- Murphy is a 6’7-6’8 athlete. The prospect from Ramsay can play multiple spots on the floor and defend multiple positions. He has solid shooting mechanics and is a matchup nightmare. He provides the team with more athleticism.
Tyrese Elliot- I just want Tyrese on the roster. After seeing him dominate team camps, I’d give this kid a scholarship if I was a college coach. Tyrese is a 6’1 combo guard who plays with swagger. The guard can score and rebounds very well from the perimeter.
