Sibley Transfers to Oak Hill Academy
The talent in Wisconsin’s senior class took a hit on Wednesday.
Milwaukee (Wis.) Nicolet 2020 forward Jamari Sibley announced on Instagram that he is headed to prestigious Oak Hill Academy in Virginia for his senior season, one season removed from a WIAA Division 2 state championship.
Sibley, a three-year varsity performer for Nicolet, averaged 19.1 points per game last season, helping the Knights run past Elkhorn and Milwaukee Washington at the Kohl Center en route to a gold ball. He’ll team up with the likes of Cameron Thomas, Dylan Caldwell, and Evan Johnson next season, playing for legendary head coach Steve Smith.
Sibley, Wisconsin’s third-ranked prospect in the 2020 class, cut his list of schools down to 10 in the spring. Minnesota, Iowa, Marquette, Georgetown, Florida, South Carolina, Iowa State, Syracuse, Maryland, and Wake Forest are the schools still in the hunt for the high-upside, 6-foot-8 forward.
Nicolet, who does return Duke commit Jalen Johnson as well as top 10 prospects in the class of 2021 in James Graham and Kobe Johnson, likely still enters the 2019-20 season as favorites in Division 2. However, the gap between them and La Crosse Central, Onalaska, Milwaukee Washington, and others, closes with Sibley’s departure.
