The versatile 6-foot-4, 180-pound swingman ran with Washington Supreme on the UAA circuit, honing his game playing against elite competition in front of many a college coach on the sidelines. Thanks to the experience and how he performed, Toolson has earned his first two Division I scholarship offers and with club ball all done with he’s started to focus on his college recruitment.
“With Washington Supreme we started off really fast but this last tournament in Atlanta, we played kind of bad and didn’t make the finals unfortunately,” Toolson said. “But all in all it was pretty fun playing with Supreme. I feel like I definitely did good towards the end and I was playing better than I did in the beginning.”
In 13 UAA games with Supreme, Toolson ended up averaging 5.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists. While college coaches got a taste of what he could do on that circuit, they really got another close look at him in the month of June when he participated in the WIBCA sanctioned event.
“That was awesome,” Toolson said. “It was an experience going out and playing with random guys and that was one of the best showings at a camp I’ve had and a bunch of college coaches were there.”
Thanks to his play, Toolson has earned two early scholarship offers from Utah Valley and Portland. Eastern Washington has also been in touch with him regularly and even Pac-12 schools such as Cal and Utah have been in contact. He’s already scheduled a visit to Portland on August 1st and he is planning on visiting Eastern Washington and Utah Valley as well.
While he’s set on taking some trips, Toolson – who is planning on taking his two-year LDS mission directly out of high school – isn’t necessarily looking at making an early commitment. “I think I’m going to wait and play my senior season to see if any other options come up,” Toolson said. “Hopefully I can then decide after the season.”
