The athletic 6-foot-5, 190-pound wing from Churchill is hopeful that opportunity will come after this next month of AAU ball. Goracke is looking to build off a solid spring with Elite 24/Cascadia Hoops and this past June with his HS team, with the aim of getting one of the schools currently looking at him to pull the trigger on his first offer.
So far, Goracke has been happy with how the off-season has gone for him. “With Elite 24/Cascadia Hoops we got like three wins on the Under Armor circuit and then all the local tournaments we’ve played we kind of dominated,” Goracke said. “Then with high school ball we’ve only lost a few games all summer so I feel like we’ve played good.”
On an individual level, we saw Goracke play at the Beyond Legendary Tournament at Jefferson High School and he impressed with his athleticism around the basket as well as his versatility as he stepped out and canned a number of threes. He continues to strive to improve. “My game has come along – I feel like I need to work on more consistency though,” Goracke said. “I’ll have games where I’ll play really good and my shot’s feeling good and then I’ll have some games where I can’t make anything. So I need to work on consistency.”
College programs continue to evaluate Goracke. He notes that he’s most recently been talking to Montana, Northwest Nazarene, and Idaho. He’s also planning on attending camp at Washington State in August. While Lancers teammate Kaelan O’Neil recently committed to Eastern Washington, Goracke is still waiting for his own chance to make a verbal pledge.
“It should soon, hopefully,” Goracke said. “I’ve just been keeping in contact with all those schools. I’d like to get an offer before the end of the summer hopefully. And I’d like to keep improving, keep getting better.”
Goracke currently ranks as the #5 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
