If you watch high school basketball in the Central Ohio area, you probably know of Tyrese Hughey. The Cardinal big man is a force to be wrecking with.
The recent Thomas Worthington enrollee hooper, is sort of a blessing for the Cardinals. The 6-foot-7 Hughey will fill a big void left by Ben Wight, who graduated and is on to a D1 program.
Hughey is a high motor power forward that plays hard all the time, and is getting better noticeably. This past weekend, picking up his first two offers from Duquesne and and Miami OH, Hughey should see that number grow a ton in the next year and a half. Must note, playing with UAA team C2K Elite, has definitely helped him.
Outside of Tyrese’s two offers, he’s hearing from Toledo, Holy Cross, Saint Francis as well as Dayton.
Tyrese is a smart kid, carrying a 3.0 GPA, that will qualify across the boards. Hughey noted the move to Thomas Worthington has him looking forward to more competition and playing with other college level athletes.
In terms of his game, Tyrese pointed out he thinks his bright spots are his high motor, defensive ability and ability to score in the paint. Which, you would have to agree with by just watching him.
What’s next?
The 2021 forward is in store for a big junior season, where he will play on a Thomas Worthington team that should compete in their OCC Division.
