Steele has shown touch, size that’s tough to position against, and improved consistency. PHD talked with Mason today and is interested in where basketball will take him.
The summer is nearly half over and Steele continues to work towards a senior year. Rapid City Stevens was 15-9 a year ago and played in state. Steele will play a huge role towards next year’s success.
“For competing I plan to continue with BBA Force,” Steele said. “And play in leagues back west river. Working out I work with Coach AJ at Rapid Skillz and Scott Benson with Benson Sports Training.”
What areas does Mason work on while with these trainers? Lost post play of course.
“Post skills and attacking the rim is a focus, and also getting a consistent mid range game with face ups,” Steele explained.
Stevens won 15 games a year ago but was 0-3 at state. Their goal is a better finish at state after a strong year.
“For my high school team the ultimate goal is to win a state championship. We should be pretty solid. I’m confident with my guys because we have been playing together since the 7th grade.”
There are more events to play with BBA Force this summer. A month of games in July.
“For BBA this is actually my first year doing the AAU thing. But playing with them definitely builds my confidence and gives me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and build my game. It’s always a great experience and getting playing time never hurts.”
Steele said he has not had much college coaches but we at PHD expect that to change soon.
