It all started with his play at the Ridgewood Live Event where he dominated with his perimeter shooting and athletic takes. Then helped lead his team Fundamental U to the championship game of the 17U division at PrepHoops Summer Challenge. We caught up with Kochera to discuss the craziness of the last week landing tons of offers!
“It was really cool. My phone was blowing up. Especially after last weekend at Ridgewood where I thought I played really well. A lot of college coaches appreciated my game more. After it I am talking to a lot of different colleges with a lot of schools reaching out to me. It has been a fun week.”
What was the feedback from college coaches?
“Everyone knew I was a shooter and that was kind of known, but how I got to the rim and finished with both hands along with handling under pressure tipped the edge for a lot of them to offer.”
Who extended offers recently?
“I got Wofford, Furman, Illinois State, Dartmouth, and Penn.”
Those are in addition to a handful of other offers.
“Cleveland State, Lafayette, Wright State, William & Mary, South Dakota, Brown, Siena, and Western Illinois.”
Any leaders yet or visits scheduled?
“At this point all of the schools are level. I will start making decisions after the July live period. A lot of the schools that offered me want me to come out for visits. I will probably start taking visits in the month of August.”
Kochera discussed what will be important for him in a college.
“The relationship I have with the coaching staff. Relationship I have with the players and how I get along with them. How I fit in with the program and their style of play.
