Kwaheem Brown – Lincoln
Brown checks in as the top wing in the class after coming off of a year in which he averaged 9.8 points. He also had a big summer with the Colorado Hawks. What makes Brown a great player is his freak athleticism which makes him very dangerous in the open court. This season he also showed that he possesses a bit of range and will be working on that part of his game and he is a leader on both ends of the floor that should see a big upcoming year where the Lancers should be one of the favorites.
Jalen Page – Fairview
Page is a player that is coming off of a season for a talented Fairview team where he averaged 14.2 points and 6.2 rebounds to lead the team. Page is a versatile player with solid size and strength to be able to defend and attack any position on the court. He makes others around him better and is able to score in a variety of ways. He is a hard worker with an endless motor that exploits mismatches and this year I expect him to average around 20 points a game. Page will pick up some offers this season for his ability to do some many different things at a high area and will be a standout looking to see his stock rise.
Tijana Bamba – Lincoln
Bamba was a player that had a big drop off as prior to the year he went in as a top five players. It wasn’t that he got worse or played bad but more so how much better the class got but he is still there and ready to turn some heads to get back to that point. He had an exceptional year although it did not end like the Lancers expected but still put up 13.5 points, and 5.1 rebounds. He gets to the rim as well as any other player in the state and sets his teammates up for easy baskets. He is an athletic wing that penetrates the defense and reads it well for either an easy basket or pass to the open man. I expect him to jump back up where he left off and take over for the Lancers as the top scorer this upcoming season as his grassroots season had some offensive explosions where he dropped over 40 points multiple times.
Trevor Baskin – Pomona
Baskin had one of the best overall seasons and largest jumps in rankings from the past few years. Baskin is the epitome of a do-it-all player as for Pomona last season he led the team in almost every major category. He scored a team-high 16.5 points and also led in rebounds 10.5 as well as assists (5.1) not many players in the state was able to out together quite a season as he was able to and he showcased it can translate with other great players surrounding him as he made the decision to play with the Colorado Hawks this summer which I fully feel as if it prepared him for an even bigger year where he turns plenty of heads. This walking double-double is a player that you have to get out and see as he is electric and his ability to take over in games makes him one of the top wings in the state.
Christian Speller – Rangview
Speller is a player that’s body and size already has him standout whenever he is on the court. He is built for power and is a wrecking ball downhill runner that gets the job done offensively inside. What also puts him ahead of this list is his willingness to defend at the highest level. He takes on the challenge of guarding bigger guys and is able to defend smaller ones as well. He has great strength and uses his speed as well. Last season he averaged 8.4 points and 4.4 rebounds and was important in the Raiders winning the state championship as he had a solid run in the playoffs as a distributor. This grassroots season he seen his game step up on a very talented Colorado Miners team where he showcased that no matter the situation he not only meshes but stands out on both ends of the floor. I expect him to be a pivotal part of the Raiders defending their crown.
