Lucas Moerman – Doherty
Colorado Springs is on the map and proving that they are here to stay. One of the top big men in the entire state is at Doherty and the man in the middle averaged a team high 12.9 points and led the conference in rebounds as well at 11.6 as well. Moerman is an elite shot blocker that changes everything at the rim. He rebounds well and uses his long slender build on both ends of the floor. Once he gets some weight on him he is going to be a force to reckon with. He is skilled and is raw and the scariest part he is one of the top bigs in the state and is at about half of his potential.
John Grigsby – Monarch
Monarch did not have the year that they wanted to but one bright spot for the team was Grigsby who finished off the year averaging 10.1 points and 4.1 rebounds a game. Grigsby has a nice feel for the game, he is active on the boards, seals off the defender and finishes well around the rim. What separates him is his ability to space the floor with his 6’9 frame as a capable 3-point shooter. This is going to be a big year for him and he will have top up his game even more.
Isaac Ondekane – Mullen
Ondekane was one of our most difficult players to rank because he jumped on the scene and completely dominated. He did not play much as a sophomore and in Junior year really blew up as he averaged 13.2 points and 12.2 rebounds a game. He is one of the most passionate players in the state and each possession he gives his all. He is not only a hustle player that plays with a ton of energy but he is very skilled on the low block. He has massive size at 6’8 250 pounds and moves really well. He is one of the best sealers in the state and wants he has the guy on his hip in the low block it is most definitely a basket. If he has one more year as he just had I fully expect him to finish within the top 10 and have a couple of D1 offers along the way.
Dominic Puchino – Roosevelt
Puchino averaged 12.4 points and also led the team in rebounds at 7.9 rebounds a game as well. He is a big man due to size and other teams in the league but he is versatile. While he is not a knock down shooter he is able to step out and knock down a shot or two to make the defense have to adjust. He is active on the boards and creates plenty of second chance opportunities as he has an athletic build and moves well. His game will translate to a tweener on the wing that occasionally goes on the block. He had double digit scoring in nine of the last 10 games of the season and showed that is he able to get going on that end of the floor.
