Prospect Spotlight: Rasheed Dupree (2021)
5-foot-5 point guard Rasheed Dupree of KIPP is usually the smallest player on the court, but often makes the biggest impact. Coming off a season in which he helped lead his team to a championship, Dupree has his sights set on racking up more wins and doing the all little things. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he discussed some of those little things along with his goals and more.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your game?
RD: “Very high energy. Defensive tone-setter. I take my game after Kyle Lowry.”
PH: What is it about Kyle Lowry that you like?
RD: “What people don’t know is Kyle does the little things. Defensive stops. Probably 5 assists and 12 points with a win. You don’t have to score 30 to win. It’s the little things that count.”
PH: What’s the most underrated part of your game?
RD: “My shooting. Back in the fourth or fifth grade, I was quicker than everyone, so the easiest shot was the layup. I’ve been working on it as I got older and it’s improved.”
PH: What are you working on right now?
RD: “I’m working on being more of a vocal leader and becoming a more consistent shooter.”
PH: What are your goals?
RD: “To be different from everybody else.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
RD: “Heart, leadership, and a lot of wins.”
