At 6’3, the 2020 wing player does does whatever is necessary to win. He can defend multiple positions, handle the ball or get a rebound.
“If my team needs a bucket I can give them one but I am a team player who can facilitate any position I play,” he says.
Riddick says playing with SSA Elite has helped him prepare for his senior season at Manhattan and perhaps beyond as he spends the offseason working on his game.
“Playing with my team is amazing because we play hard the whole game and we won’t back down without a fight,” he says. “We love to compete and we play to win.
“This offseason I’ve worked on being more consistent with my shot and getting stronger. I’ve also worked on using my off hand more.”
Despite coming off an 8-14 season in 2018-19, expectations are high at Manhattan as the Indians return a host of key players this season and are coming off a strong June as the program went 10-0 at various team camps.
“This past High School season was a struggle, we didn’t have a great season but this past June my high school team had an amazing time,” Riddick said.
Riddick says his family has had the biggest influence on his basketball career to date.
“My family … they want to see me win and push me through everything,” he said. “My teammates also have a huge influence on me because they trust me to make big time plays.”
A fan of college basketball, Riddick says he has drawn interest from several college programs, but does not yet hold an offer.
