Prospect Spotlight: Micah Smith (2020)
Dual-sport athlete, Micah Smith, had a very productive summer for the Wesleyan School. He showcased his athleticism, scoring ability, and leadership as he looks to build from his junior year. Last season, Smith garnered 1st team All-Region honors while averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals per game. During summer league, he led private-school Wesleyan against higher classified schools including Chamblee, Rockdale County, and Johns Creek. Against Chamblee, Smith recorded 29 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Wesleyan head coach, Adam Griffin, speaks highly of Smith. “Micah is a great athlete who can finish well above the rim despite being 5’11, and is an elite on the ball defender. He just loves to compete and brings great passion every day.” Smith is well-respected in Class A for affecting the game on both ends of the court.
A highly coveted football recruit, Smith has earned college interests for both basketball and football. He plays with a high motor and describes his game as explosive, physical and fearless, similar to that of Russell Westbrook. North Georgia has expressed interest in his basketball talents. On the other hand, Syracuse, Kennesaw State, Georgia State, Furman, and Mercer have expressed interest in Smith on the football field. Whichever sport he chooses, Micah Smith’s high motor and competitive spirit will add value to any program at the next level.
