I watched him this past Thursday at the UAA Finals where he led his Team Thrill to a victory over Washington Supreme. In that game, Walker finished with 12 points on going 4-4 from the field. Walker already has tons of muscle on him and much more than a normal rising sophomore. Offensively, his ability to score the basketball at all levels is impressive and is one of the more dominant players in the 2022 class that I have seen. On the defensive side of the ball he is showing that he will be one of the best shot blockers in his class too. We caught up with Walker to touch base on a numerous things.
He has found himself to have a productive summer, “My summer has been going well, we have been playing well as a team and playing together so it has gone well so far.”
He is already been invited to USA basketball which is another example of how highly touted Walker is, “USA was a lot of fun. Being able to play with the top players and trying to represent my country is a huge honor so it was a really good experience.”
He and his Team Thrill teammates advanced to the final four of the UAA Final and he discussed his role on that team, “I think my role was very important. I can rebound on both ends, pass, score, block and play defense, so I can do a lot so I think my role on the team plays a huge part in what we are trying to get done.”
When he was asked to describe his game, he said “I am getting it down hill, creating for my teammates, creating plays and playing great defense. I play on both sides of the ball when I am at my best.”
Recruitment is still at an early stage for him but one school that already stands out to him is Maryland.
“I might take an unofficial visit to Maryland soon. Maryland is a great school because I am from that area so I was really happy to receive the offer and be able to represent that area.
