In a little over one year he has used passion, teaching, and hard work to lay a solid foundation for his Nevada Ballers Club. The UNLV graduate has built a program based on more than basketball. Combining academics, athletics and community outreach, several talented players across the valley have found a home in his program. Here are a few of the standouts.
Malik Harris 2019 American Prep Texas Southern University – Harris played with the club during the spring, and is the first Scholarship athlete in the programs history. A shifty 5’11 PG, he is a team oriented pass first PG, who excels at finding the open man. Solid handle and is a streak shooter that only needs to see one go down to get hot. He has signed on to play for coach Johny Jones and Texas Southern in the fall.
Jerimiah Beckwood 2020 Desert Valley Prep – Beckwood passes the eye test. At 6’5 and built like a collegiate tailback, he is a physically imposing guard who can get to the rim whenever he chooses. Put him on the block and he becomes a matchup nightmare down low. Right now he’s better at slashing, in fact his struggles only come when he settles for jumpers. At times he shows flashes of an explosive run and jump athlete. Extremely quick off his feet with his second jump, Beckwood is an elite rebounder from the guard position.
Amarion Waller 2021 Sierra Vista –Waller is a big time competitor and tenacious defender. He has quick feet and is difficult to beat off the dribble. Offensively he has an efficient handle and is a willing passer. While his jumper is still a work in progress, he has the ability to get consistent paint touches and put maximum pressure on the defense. The 5’10 Waller will be attending Sierra Vista in the fall.
Zarius Benson Moore 2020 Democracy Prep – Moore is a long, versatile guard that is comfortable playing the 2 or 3. He has an excellent first step, and is aggressive attacking the rim. Originally from Detroit, he plays with a gritty competitive edge. While the 6’3 Moore does have a decent outside shot, right now he is more of a scorer than a shooter.
Kaveon Perry Durango 2020 – Perry may be the programs best defensive player. The 5’10 guard routinely matches up with the opposing team’s best offensive player. He is a good shooter that is comfortable in catch and shoot situations, however he has shown the ability to pull up off the bounce.
