The gym is smoking hot and players are trying to make a name for themselves in the heat of the summer. We have done our best to spread out the coverage of some of the top players as well as sleepers. This content will focus more on players that are still growing their name and game.
Prospect Evals:
2021 6’10 C Gavin Gilstrap (Fuego 16u/ WA) – Big bodied center that clogs space on defense. He really showed spurts of imposing his will and I would like to see him do that more, but that will come as he continues to improve his conditioning and running form up and down the floor. Gilstrap is a put back threat and can pass some out of the post as well. Some D3 and D2 coaches in attendance believe he could be a fit at their level, but he still has some time.
2021 6’7 PF Jaden Brownell (Utah Premier White 17u/ UT) – Solid and physical presence with a matching frame for a rising junior. Jaden set hard screens and sealed with a sense of urgency in the paint. He is not afraid to mix things up and projects as a solid college prospect for the right level.
2020 6’2 G Jalen Ashley (Rise Basketball 17u/ NV) – Explosive guard that plays with a swagger on the court. Attacks the rim and finishes with hang time or the big dunk. Jalen showed a lot of energy on defense and appeared to be hungry to turn defense into offense, which allows for him to look comfortable in uptempo settings. *Feature image
2020 6’6 C Ruke Agbabune (Strive Basketball 17u/ CA) – Long and solid athlete that also has the ability to be a pick and pop threat. He has a long reach, making it difficult to contest his shot around the basket, with his reach being much longer than his height. Ruke is a solid free throw shooter at the end of games and he can alter shots on defense.
2021 6’3 SG Devean Williams (Fastbreak Sports 17u/ CA) – Smooth lefty shooter that showed the ability to facilitate as well. He can drive and kick and does not force too many bad shots. Williams made good basketball decisions, knowing when to shoot it and when to kick it out. He is not explsively quick, but he has a way of getting by defenders. Overall, his best attribute is his effortless shooting form.
