Expect to see these players move up in the Palmetto State Rankings or make a debut somewhere along the way next month. The new state rankings will come out in early August after Grassroots basketball finishes up.
Ben JonesBen Jones (2020) – Greenville HS
Jones 6’3 had a solid few weekends between Columbia and this weekend at Sizzlin Summer Shootout. Jones has good size for a shooting guard and very quick release. Jones always seems to be shot ready to receive the ball. Jones is very coachable and a great teammate on the floor.
Jaylen RayJaylen Ray (2021) – White Knoll HS (Lexington)
Ray had a solid showing in the NCAA Carolina Event. Ray has a slender-sleek frame. Ray has great nose for the ball and was diving all over the floor for 50/50 balls. Ray who runs with the Carolina Pressure on the Grassroots Circuit plays the game with a good motor. Ray was constantly on the move all day long and in place to make a play.
Earl BurgessEarl Burgess (2021) – Dorman HS
Burgess 6’6 is playing along P.J. Hall and recent transfer Justin Amadi in the paint for the Cavaliers. Burgess picked up a offer from USC-Upstate recently. Burgess a lengthy forward is a bit of a tweener on the floor. Burgess plays inside the paint and can step-out some and face-up. Burgess fills the lane in transition and has good hands. Burgess will compliment Hall and Amadi very nicely on this talented Cavaliers team.
Jazian GortmanJazian Gortman (2022) – Keenan HS
Gortman had some strong showings with Prep Hoops in attendance this June. Gortman really filled it up from downtown at the Coastal Carolina University Team Camp and the NCAA South Carolina Event in Columbia. Gortman attended Gray Collegiate last season. Gortman is a knockdown shooter who defenders CAN’T LEAVE OPEN. Gortman has a very bright future for the Raiders and expect him to make a good jump come next month.
