Chase Poston (2020) | 6-0 G/F | Fairfield Union | Ohio Hoopsters
Looks bigger than the listed 6-0. Looks more like 6-3/6-4. Has good size and is not a bad athlete, but his strength is his ability to shoot the ball. Very good catch and shoot from behind the arc. Will get them in transition, or spotting up for 3’s. Would like to see his footwork coming off screens. While not his strength, he still is good off the bounce 1-2 dribbles and making mid-range jumpers. A sleeper who needs to be watched over the next 6-9 months.
Gholahan Adio (2020) | 6-3 G/F | Richmond Hts| All Ohio Red
Gholahan is an athletic wing who is already a very good defender, but has a chance to become elite. To me, that should be his calling card at the next level. However, he still an above average offense player as well. Very good looking shot and capable of making 2-3 3’s and have nights where he makes 4 to 6 3’s a game. Right now he is streaky, but if he gets in the gym, has a chance to be an average to above average shooter. The one thing he needs to do is finish off the dribble and around the basket. That comes with more strength and the ability to get around good defenders. That is the key to his success. Still like his potential.
Chace Perkins (2020) | 6-4 SF | Westerville North | Ohio Hoopsters – Jones
I thought Chase had a really good weekend and has a chance to be a steal for someone. He has good size and is strong. He does a great job of getting downhill and getting to the basket. He strength allows him to finish well and/or get to the FT line. Good athlete who has the ability to be a very good defender with his quickness, size and strength. Would like to see him rebound a little better and he must continue to work on his mid-range and 3PT shot to keep defenders honest and force them to play him honestly when he gets to the next level.
Ezra McKee (2020) | 6-5 SF | Wooster | TNBA East Black
Ezra maybe my top, out of no where player this weekend. He is a good size wing (I thought he looked more like 6-4 than 6-5/6-6 where I saw that listed) who is a little thing, but a good athlete and very long. He can score off the dribble in the mid-range, getting to the cup, and he even post up when the put similar or smaller guys on him. In addition he gets to the FT line a lot because he is unpredictable on the offensive end. While I did not see him shoot many 3’s, his stroke his good enough where if he made a commitment to be a good 3PT shooter, I see no reason why he can. The key to his success is to get in the weight room and get stronger so he can become an elite finisher. Coaches if you need a wing and miss on some, he is a guy you need to get on a do your research on him, I just have a hunch about him.
Marcus Johnson (2020) | 6-3 G/F | Columbus South | All Ohio Red
Long wing similar to Adio. Like Adio, has a chance to be an elite defender with his length and athleticism. Already an above average to very good rebounding wing. Willing to stick his nose in there on both ends of the floor. Good off the dribble and to the basket, but must continue to develop there. He did not look to shoot much from 3 when I was watching. Would like to see that from him.
Josiah Smith (2022) | 6-4 G/F | Africentric | JH1 2022
Young wing who is long, a good athlete and very skilled. He is a very good 3PT shooter. I think he has a chance in the next year to move up the list in the 2022 class. Has the skills to play both the 2 and 3, but if he continues to grow, he has a chance to be a protopical Small Forward at the college level. Like most sophomores, his motor and ability to get stronger are keys to him reaching his potential and continuing to stay hunger. But a lot to like about Josiah.
