You are always looking for those players who are ready to make an impact and take their game to a new level with flocks of coaches in the building. Tonight, we have a few guys that could be in the running.
Grant Gohmann – 6’7 C 2020 – Floyd Central (IN) – IE Side 2020
Gohmann is a big, bruising post player with some mobility and shooting touch. Has some room to improve the frame and get a little mobility long term. However, he does seem to know how to use his body well and can be a tough out on rebounds. High IQ with a willingness to play his role. Can physically post up, move and re-post. Also, showed he can step out and shoot. That could be the key for him.
Bryce Beery – 6’2 SG 2021 – Carmel (IN) – IE North 2021
Beery is a tough, off-guard who has a capable jumper and a good frame on the wing. Showed he has the capabilities to play on the ball a bit, some creativeness and toughness. Plays with some pace. Slashes decently well and can really be a guy down the road that can make some plays for others.
Nick Anderson – 6’2 SG 2020 – Lake Central (IN) – IE Northwest 2020
Nick is a thin-framed guard who has some good size and quickness. His best when he can get the ball in his hands on the wing. Really quick release and great feel on the arc. Has a little breakdown ability on the wing to get to his jumper and can really stroke it from all over. Ability to put up a lot of points quickly.
Austin Darnell – 6’7 PF 2020 – Washington Twp. (IN) – IE Northwest 2020
Austin is a long, rangy forward who showed he could really stroke it. Quick, short release but it works for him. Looked really mobile and agile but still growing into his frame a bit. More of a perimeter-oriented forward right now but didn’t mix it up inside and use his length pretty well. Has enough ball handling ability, with his size, to show some long term upside.
Mitchell Wirts – 6’4 PF 2020 – Homeschool (IN) – GPP 2020 Black
Mitchell is an undersized forward but has enough skill to get a strong look. He’s got a big, filled out frame with some good strength but he’s best when he is able to get off some shots from behind the arc. He’s got great touch and can be an interesting fit in the right system. Big and strong enough that their is a path for him being pretty solid defensively and enough offense to bring some value.
Jacob Johnson – 6’5 SF 2020 – Oldenburg Academy (IN) – Indiana Legends 2020
Jacob is a long, rangy wing with some really good ball handling and creativeness on the perimeter and into the mid-range. Still not a guy who is going to get to the rim a ton but he’s so good finding that spot in the 22’-15’ range where he can go to either hand and pull-up. Just as good off the catch, too. Frame is going to take on quite a bit of strength and while he might need a little time to develop, he’s looking more and more like a breakout candidate early in his college career.
