I have to start with Bryce Monroe 5’11 guard from Archbishop Riordan, (SF Ca) representing Team Lillard 17u. Bryce averaged 23 points, and 7 assist in the 2 games I saw. He hit the game winning shot in both games. Being guarded by top players in the counrty didn’t faze him at all. He demonstrated repeatedly that he can create shots for himself as well as team-mates. His ability to get his shot off over bigger, longer defenders, and score consistently sets him apart from others.
Teiano Hardee, 6’5 2020 prospect from Vanden H.S. (Fairfield Ca). Plays for Team Liilard 17u, performed quite well on the big stage. He has the ability to get to the basket, on the drive, through contact and finish with some consistency. He helped Team Lillard 17u pull off an upset win over Team Billups knocking down big shots with the mid-range or a three during this game. He finished with 18 points. He defends his position, and helps on the rebounding.
I always enjoy watching Team Lillard 16u, They always compete, you know when you play this team. Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa a 2021 prospect from Brookside Christian in (Stockton Ca). He’s as controlled as a player can be. Every time I watch him play I get the impression that he can score anytime he wants to. He’s a combo guard right now because he’s solid at both. You want him to have the ball when the game is on the line. Time will tell which one he really is. Keep an eye on this prospect.
Darrion Williams 6’5 2022 prospect from Capital Christian in Sacramento Ca. He plays for Team Lilard 16u. A rising prospect at 6’5 is often the one guarding the bigs from the other teams, he was effective with his wide lower body, good footwork, and a focus on boxing out. Offensively he showed a variety of post moves around the basket, including the one he makes with some consistency the two dribble jumphook. His passing from the high post to cutters was impressive. His improved outside shooting wasn’t enough to knock off the eventual champions YGC36. He finished the game with 4 three’s and 20 points total.
Cory Yerger 5’10 2022, Grant H.S. (Sacramento Ca). He plays with Dream Vision 15u. An intriguing prospect who brings athleticism along with some sneaky hops. I was impressed with his ability to throw it down with authority. An up and coming prospect with some shiftiness in his game, he’s quick to attack off the dribble, and fearless going to the basket. He plays with an edge, and he’s a daring passer, likes the skip pass.
