We usually have our top scorers, rebounders, guards etc. But, in this article I wanted to highlight players over six-foot.
Plenty of capable prospects under six-foot, at all levels, so definitely nothing against those.
Getting right into it, take a look at these prospects!
• Zion Reynolds (6’4” / WG 2021 / Western Hills / Ohio Players): Reynolds has made some good strides this summer. The game before I watched him, he put up 38 points, the ability to fill it up is there. The wing showed the ability to be a strong rebounder. Also, got to the hoop with spins and off-hand finishes. Reynolds affects the game with his length. Tipping passes, getting out and running.
• Tyler Nichols (6’2” / G 2020 / Olentangy Liberty / Mid Ohio Pumas Benson): A kid that didn’t play school ball this past season, that has worked hard to get to where he is, according to coaches. Worked well as a primary ball handler, operating the half court. Gets to the hoop, often with a spin. Competes hard, made winning plays despite his team’s loss. A player I hope to watch some more.
• Charles Perkins (6’4” / WF 2020 / Westerville North / Ohio Hoopsters): Perkins plays tough on the block, where he can finish off either shoulder. Gets up and down the floor with ease. Capable shot contester that makes it tough. Plays bigger than 6-foot-4 at times.
• Josiah Smith (6’2” / 2022 G / Africentric / JH1 Elite): Smith is an above average ball handler that can put it on a string. Noticeable leader that communicates to his team, which definitely stood out. Doesn’t avoid contact, in fact, finishes through it. Can get to the line and knock it down. Africentric develops their guards pretty well, Smith will soon be one on top.
• Dylan Thompson (6’2” / WG 2022 / Buckeye Valley / JH1 Elite): Thompson is an athlete on the court, that has noticeable stamina. Going as hard as he was in the first few minutes, in the final few. Also, off-ball often, but can handle it if needed. The ‘22 guard can finish in transition, and through contact. Tough defender against the on-ball, allowing no space. Capable mid-range game, and outside scorer. Dylan should take another step forward with a young Buckeye Valley team this winter.
