Unlike session I where there were only two 2 top 25 players from 2020 and 2021 attending, twelve of the participants are from the top 25 of each class. We will look at who is attending and what we might see during session II from them.
Class of 2020
PG Chanse Robinson / Prep Hoops #3 / 6’0″ / Lincoln Prep
PG Ladamien Bradford / Prep Hoops #4 / 6’4″ / Jonesboro-Hodge
SF Collin Holloway / Prep Hoops #6 / 6’4″ / Port Allen
SF Hobert Grayson IV / Prep Hoops #9 / 6’4″ / East Ascension
PG Byron Joshua / Prep Hoops #10 / 5’10” / Crescent City
D’Marcus Hall / Prep Hoops #13 / 6’4″ / Calvary Baptist – pictured above
Tai’reon Joseph / Prep Hoops #17 / 6’2″ / Scotlandville Magnet
This group of players are some of the most talented that Louisiana has. Ironically enough, outside of Robinson, most of them do not have the number of offers that one would think top 20 players should have. Because of this, each one of these players has something to play for. Bradford, Holloway, and Grayson were seen by many of these coaches at the UAA Finals and Peach Jam. This weekend at U of H might prove to be very benefical for them in solidifying offers from Division I schools.
Class of 2021
E’maryeon McDonald / Prep Hoops #2 / 6’1″ / Scotlandville Magnet
Carlos Stewart / Prep Hoops #4 / 6’1″ / Dunham
Derrick Tezeno / Prep Hoops #16 / 6’3″ / North Central -pictured above
Devon Lizana / Prep Hoops #20 / 6’0″ / Salmen
Carter Domingue / Prep Hoops #25 / 6’2″ / St. Thomas More
Gage Dorsey / not ranked / 5’10” / Landry-Walker
DeShawn Jackson / not ranked / 6’2″ / Pickering
Zavier Sims / not ranked / 6’2″ / Lee Magnet
McDonald is the highest ranked player in the of either class participating in the CBA. He has the second most offers behind Chanse Robinson. Ironically enough they are on the same team during session II (1983 NC State). Carter Domingue joins them on this squad making it combo guard heavy. All other players in the class are dispersed among the 90s and 2000s teams. Lizana is the only Prep Hoops ranked player to be placed on one of the 2000s teams as he will be playing for the 2004 UConn Huskies. Just as the 2020 group, these players have something to prove. The three unranked guys have to prove they can play in this setting because they have had the grassroots opportunities that some of the other Louisiana players have had.
The CBA has players listed on teams named after championship teams from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The 1980s teams are projected high major DI recruits, 90s or high and mid majors, and 2000s are possible mid to low major recruits. As in session I, session II players need to show that they can compete against higher level competition. Players who are combo guards will need to show that they can be distributors as well. The wing players will need to show they can score from the outside just as proficiently as they do in the lane. As long as each player shows they are well rounded players with a couple of signature pieces, they should seeing offers after they leave the College Basketball Academy.
