I thought it would be fun to go over some of the highlights of the summer as a little wrap up. This article is going to cover some of the most improved players this summer. These guys took a huge step in their skill development and overall game.
#1 Logan Phillips 6’7 2020 G/F Valley Christian
Logan Phillips has really gotten a lot better this summer. He looks way more aggressive, especially when trying to score the ball. This helps Logan’s overall game. This season should be a very good one for him, a season that I think he can easily average between 20-25 points per game and help lead Valley Christian to another State Championship.
#2 Tanner Poeschl 6’6 2020 F Skyline
Poeschl doesn’t even look like the same player as he did last year compared to now. I really admire his work ethic and his coaching staff for working with him and getting him to this point. He has gotten so much better and should have a pretty good season for Skyline.
#3 Dre Henry 6’8 2020 F PHH Prep
Dre Henry looked so much better this season mainly because he was finally healthy. We all knew what he could be and how skilled he was, it seemed like injuries has been slowing him down. This summer, he finally got fully healthy, he slimmed down some more, and really played well.
#4 Dominic Gonzalez 6’3 2020 G Ironwood
Gonzalez has always been known as a scorer and it will probably be the main asset that gets him a free education. However, he has really tightened up his skills and become that much more of a deadly scorer. He focused on what has gotten him to the point so far and tuned it up nicely. Gonzalez will be a 20 point scorer this season.
#5 Carter Van Hammond 6’9 2021 F PHH Prep
CVH has really improved and I think its mainly attributed to playing time. I felt that he didn’t play a ton at Perry and could have been used more. Of course it is easy to play back seat coach and criticize play rotations. Throughout the summer, CVH looked more and more comfortable as he played big minutes for PHH UAA. CVH should have a bigger role now that he has transferred to PHH Prep, we will see how his season will turn out!
