Coleman is a hyper-athlete that is still developing a skill set to go along with his athleticism. He is somewhere between a guard and a wing, but I think at the moment he is more of a 3 than a 2. He attacks the rim with a ferocity that few are capable of matching, and is nearly impossible to stop in transition. He is a capable shooter from deep, and has really good mechanics on his jumpshot, so I expect that he will continue to improve from distance. Although Coleman has already picked up a couple D1 offers this summer in basketball, he is also a D1 level prospect on the football field, so he will have to make a decision on what sport to play at the next level.
Jardin Gilbert 6’3 U-High & Louisiana Elite
Gilbert is another super athlete that excels on both the hardwood and the gridiron. And on the basketball court, he brings the same high level effort and intensity, as well as physicality that you would expect from a football star. He is a good ball handler, and can really excel as a secondary ball handler against high level competition. Of everyone on this list, Gilbert is probably the best defender, and when his motor is running hot, there isn’t much the offensive player is able to do. He has already picked up some high major football offers, so my expectation is that he will play football at the next level, but in the meantime, he is going to have a lot of highlight plays on the court.
Tyrease Johnson 6’4 Booker T. Washington & Liv-On/Fleur De Lis
Johnson is the 3rd and final multi-sport star on this list, and he definitely fits into the mold. He is athletic with a long wingspan, and is a relentless attacker of the rim. He is a good ball handler for his size, and with his size is able to see over the defense and is a good facilitator as a result. He helped to lead Booker T. Washington to Marsh Madness last season, and with all three of their best players returning for next season, they have the potential to be a dynasty in the making.
Delatrion Moton 6’4 Woodlawn-Shreve & Xpress Sports
The thing that I like most about Moton’s game is his ability to affect the game in a ton of different ways. He is like a high school version of Draymond Green. He can put it on the floor as a ball handler, but I like him best as a screen setter and then attacking down hill. He consistently makes the right play, whether that is scoring for himself or dishing to the open man. On the defensive end, he has some physical limitations, but he has a high defensive IQ and knows where to be. I also has a sweet spot for his willingness to take charges on the defensive end. Moton has great feel for the game and is a pure basketball player.
Derrick Tezeno 6’5 North Central & Liv-On/Fleur De Lis
There is one thing that separates Tezeno from the rest of the pack for his class and that is his energy and effort level. I’m not sure if there is a player in the state with a better motor than he has. He is a bit undersized and is probably closer to a 4 than a 3 at the moment, but he is going to be successful no matter where you put him on the court. He is a type of kid that you never have to run a play for, but will find a way to impact the game with his ability to get you buckets and rebounds.
