Exciting right? I think so too. The live weekend proved beneficial for some, and will for more later on. Even if a player didn’t receive an offer this weekend, they may have opened the door or inched closer to adding one.
With that being said, let’s look at some notables from this past weekend.
Notables:
• Grant Huffman (6’4” / G 2020 / St. Edward / C2K Elite): Picking up offers from Vermont and Davidson this weekend, Huffman adds to a pretty impressive offer sheet already. Also, Sunday Huffman announced his verbal commitment to Davidson via Twitter. One of the state’s better prospects had a solid weekend down south at the UAA Finals, that impressed some coaches. Huffman works well off ball, back cuts and motion getting him open looks. Also, on-ball Grant gets to the hoop with ease. Having ran the point before he can handle it and create space around the basket. A tough player that finishes even tougher at the rack. Pretty good rebounder from the guard position, due to positive athleticism.
• Tyrese Hughley (6’7” / F 2021 / Thomas Worthington / C2K Elite): Hughley I have noted before as a D1 scholarship kid in the 2021 class. Picking up his first two offers from Miami (OH) and Duquesne, solidifying just that. The big man is filling who shoes and getting better and better. A good boost of energy around the rim allows Tyrese to finish just about anything. Stretching the floor more and more. Runs the floor well, cleans things up and a will-be shot blocker on D. First of many for the 6-7 C2K Elite forward.
• Trey Robinson (6’7” / W 2020 / Hamilton / Apex Gold): Robinson has had a nice last few months picking up offers. The skilled wing picked up offers from Duquesne and Illinois State this past weekend, now sitting at a cool 12 offers. Works well off the ball, gets good looks, takes high quality shots are things that pop out when watching Robinson. Finding open mid-range shots off the bounce brings another part to Robinson’s game. Definitely a player I have to watch in the HS setting.
• Hunter Shedenhelm (6’5” / WG 2020 / Pickerington North / Nova Village): Hunter Shedenhelm is potentially the best D2 prospect in Central Ohio. A very good shooter on end and a lockdown defender on the other, the 6-5 guard does what coaches absolutely want. Holding multiple offers already, the Panther added another offer this weekend from Cedarville. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more schools pull the trigger and offer. Hunter plays a sound game that will help any team win. A major D2 priority for many.
