Our teams are playing in events all across the country and I have been able to monitor much of the action through the beauty of live streaming. Here is a quick run-down of what has been going on as we head into this weekend’s action.
Peach Jam
*The MoKan Elite 17U team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Nike EYBL Peach Jam Finals in North Augusta, S.C. after finishing with a 4-1 record in pool play. MoKan Elite will take on the NY Renaissance in today’s quarterfinals at 11 a.m. (CT). 6’6″ 2020 G Luke Kasubke (Chaminade) has been a consistent scorer at about 15 points a game, including a high of 28 points in the opener against Meanstreets. 6’2″ Prep Dajuan Harris, a former Rock Bridge standout, has been a force in all aspects of the game, including a 13-point, 9-rebound, 10-assist performance against AOT Running Rebels, while 6’4″ 2020 guard Coban Porter (Father Tolton) and 6’5″ guard Dylan Branson (Mehlville) have been excellent glue-guys in the winning effort.
*Boo Williams will also be playing in the quarterfinals today after qualifying with a 3-1 record in pool play. They will play the AOT Running Rebels (GA) at 11 a.m. (CT). One of Boo Williams’ top players has been 6’5″ 2021 star Animu Mohammed of Class 2 state champion Greenwood. Mohammed has been averaging 20 points and nearly 10 rebounds a game during the Peach Jam.
*The Brad Beal Elite 15U team qualified for the quarterfinals after finishing with a 2-1 record in pool play. BBE defeated The Family 95-74 and Team CP3 54-51 in pool play. A few of the top performers from Missouri on BBE are 5’9″ 2022 point guard Robert Martin of CBC and 6’5″ 2022 forward Alpha Chibambe of St. Louis Christian Academy. BBE will take on the PSA Cardinals in today’s quarterfinals at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
Mullen’s High Profile
Team YOBO and the KC Pacers-Burnett will meet in the 17U quarterfinals of the Mullen’s High Profile Tournament in the Platinum Division today at 1 p.m. in Fort Worth, TX. Both teams are currently 2-0 in the tournament.
Team KC Black advanced to the semifinals in the 16U Division while Team YOBO, Team KC Black and the KC Pacers Blue have all advanced to the quarterfinals in the 15U Division.
NY2LA Next Level
Yanders Law 2021 and Carroll GoL1ve 17U have both advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NY2LA Next Level Invitational in Milwaukee, WI in the Platinum Division. Yanders Law has been getting sparkling play from 6’2″ 2021 point guard Anton Brookshire of Springfield Kickapoo.
Carroll GoL1ve has advanced both of its 15U teams (Red and Black) into the Sweet 16 of the Platinum Division.
Team Ramey CCM 17U picked up a couple of victories in pool play behind the excellent play of 6’1″ 2020 guard Jaylen Boyd of Ladue and 6’7″ 2020 forward Gary Clark of Cardinal Ritter.
Peach Invitational
Brad Beal Elite 16U finished with a 3-0 record and won its pool at the Peach Invitational Tournament in Augusta, GA. BBE will continue play in bracket-play action today against the NJ Playaz at 9:30 a.m. (CT). 6’5″ 2021 guard Nicholas Kern, Jr (Vashon) has been very impressive for BBE with his overall play.
UA Rise
The Gateway Basketball Club 17U team is playing well at the UA Rise Nationals in Atlanta, having won three of its first four games on the tournament. Marcus Denmon Elite’s 16U team continued its excellent play in the spring into July with a string of victories in Atlanta. KC Run GMC has gotten some good play from 6’2″ 2020 guard Evan Guillory of Joplin and 6’7″ 2020 forward Kian Scroggins of Raymore-Peculiar.
Recruit Looks
A trio of teams from Metro East St. Louis (IL) have won championships at the Recruit Looks League Elite 32 in Atlanta. Gateway, IL won the 17U Division championship with a 60-57 victory over the OSA Crusaders. The SW Illinois Jets Orange won the 16U championship with a 65-48 victory over Hoop Smart. The SW Illinois Jets also won the 15U championship after defeating Cooz Elite 50-30.
The Larry Hughes Basketball Academy 16U team reached the semifinals of the league playoffs as 6’9″ 2021 forward Sam Thompson (Francis Howell) continued to showcase his all-around skills, which Division I schools are starting to take notice.
The SW Illinois Jets 17U advanced to the semifinals of the league playoffs. 6’0″ 2020 guard Rashad Weekly-McDaniels (Trinity) had a very good tournament with his scoring and ability to facilitate.
Midwest Live
The Midwest Live got underway last night in Council Bluffs, IA. Team KC Silver, Victory Ministry and the KC Pacers Grey opened up the weekend with nice victories on Friday night.
A Few Individual Standouts on Friday
* 6’1″ 2020 guard Terrell Kabala of Victory Ministry Orange 17U (Webb City) averaged 20 points in his team’s two games at the Midwest Live in Council Bluffs, IA.
*6’4″ 2020 guard Justice Thoma of the Silver Bullets 17U (Cape Notre Dame) scored a game-high 27 points in a 61-50 victory over the Arkansas Heat at the Recruit Looks Elite 32 in Atlanta.
*6’2″ 2020 guard Samuel Bledsoe of the Silver Bullets 17U (Charleston) scored 24 points and hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer in a 53-50 victory over 1Family at the Recruit Looks Elite 32 in Atlanta.
*6’3″ 2020 guard Adam Sommer of Arsenal Hoops 17U (Parkway South) scored 21 points in a victory over Indy Heat Orange at the Adidas Invitational in Indianapolis.
