Much of Wednesday’s action centered around the opening day of the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. Here is a look at Wednesday night’s standouts:
Luke Kasubke 6’5″ MoKan Elite 17U: The standout wing from Chaminade scored a game-high 28 points in a victory over Meanstreets. He was an efficient nine of 12 from the field and made five three pointers, along with his seven rebounds. He really busted loose in the third quarter as he went on a scoring spree with 3-pointers, transition buckets and nice drives to the basket. He was excellent.
Animu Mohammed 6’5″ Boo Williams 17U: The 2021 standout from Greenwood had 22 points and 13 rebounds in a victory over NY Renaissance. He was a beast at both ends of the court because his motor never, ever stops over the course of the game. He is out running in transition, and he’s constantly moving to get to the open spot for easy buckets and he can attack the basket on the drive or on the offensive glass.
Jaylon McDaniels 6’7″ MoKan Elite 16U: The 2021 power forward from Blue Springs South scored a team-high 19 points in an impressive victory over ProSkills. Jaylon was dominant around the basket with a variety of spin moves, tough finishes and slam dunks in traffic. He really finished well around the basket with both hands.
Dajuan Harris 6’2″ MoKan Elite 17U: The former Rock Bridge standout is doing a year of prep and Sunrise Christian and his impact in MoKan’s victory over Meanstreets was very evident without even looking to score. As always, he was a disruptive force on the defensive end and a very unselfish table-setter on the offensive end. He just makes everyone around him better and more confident, especially on the defensive end.
Robert Martin 5’9″ Brad Beal Elite 15U: The 2022 point guard from CBC ran the show expertly in BBE’s 95-74 victory over The Family at the 15U Peach Jam. He advanced the ball with great speed and pace and dropped several dimes to open teammates and shooters. He was very good in the pick-and-roll as he constantly set up his guys to eat.
Alpha Chibambe 6’5″ Brad Beal Elite 15U: The 2022 forward from St. Louis Christian Academy was a beast around the basket in BBE’s 95-74 victory over the Family. He may not be the tallest player, but he plays much bigger than his size with his explosiveness and high motor. He attacked the offensive boards and also scored well as a roll man in the pick-and-roll.
