MVP: Wayne Mckinney Coastal Elite 2021 – Mckinney was an absolute stud all tournament. He saved his best performance for the championship game. The 5’10 NFL halfback playing point carried his team to a hard fought victory over Utah Premiere. He did it all, from locking down on the defensive end, to finishing over length. He got to the rim with ease and almost single-handedly put the Premiere in foul trouble in the Championship game. The PH #5 2021 guard in Oregon was the clear cut best player on the floor. Mckinney is a D1 player of some level, the only question is what level. The range he develops his jumper over the next year will decide the answer.
Jaden Brownell Utah Premiere 2021 – This was my last time seeing Jaden Brownell, and I have to say it was a pleasure watching him on the circuit this Summer. He has all the tools to be a D1 prospect. He’s a long, fluid 6’7 athlete. Brownell’s skill set includes the ability to stretch the floor, a nice touch around the rim with both hands and flashes of guard skills. Several times, I have witnessed Brownell take the ball off the glass, and advance it up the court to make a play for himself, or his teammates.
TJ Williams Colorado Gold Titans 2021 – TJ is part of my all street fight team. The scrappy 6’0 guard competed extremely hard all week, helping lead Colorado Gold to the Semis. He excelled at getting paint touches and creating plays for his teammates. A timely shooter, Williams hit several clutch shots for the Colorado Gold.
Emanuel “Mooch” Austin Nevada Hard 2 Guard 2021 – As they say, Mooch is a bucket. The 6’0 guard was one of the most impressive players I saw this weekend. He has an advanced offensive game with several different tools in his bag. Austin was great at getting separation from defenders to score with his mid-range game. When he did get to the paint, he showed a great ability to finish over length. When they backed off of him, he banged 3’s. He scored in transition, he scored off of offensive rebounds and he turned defense into offense. For him, the length of his basketball career will depend on if he can become a more consistent outside shooter, and if he can transition down into more of a 1 than a 2.
Parker Christensen Utah Premiere 2021 – Christensen was a rock for the Premiere this weekend. He’s a solid point who has a good handle and can shoot it from deep. He has fabulous foot work and understands how to stay shot ready. He also showed the ability to create shots for himself and his teammates off the dribble. Christensen is tough minded and is willing to come down and help his team rebound from the guard position. In addition to his on the court efforts, he is also is a 3.9 student.
