Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who raised their profile with strong performances on Saturday.
23 — Mike Carson, 6’3, F, 2021, KS, Showtine 16U (pictured)
Carson had it all working on Saturday against SSA Elite Black, putting Showtime on his back in the paint as SSA struggled to match up with him inside. He is a strong, athletic player with a feel for post play and making himself available along the baseline. He was a force on the boards as well, coming up with several key offensive rebounds and even showed the ability to step out and knock down 3-pointers. He’s one of the more underrated players on the rise in Kansas.
20-Trevion Alexander, 6’3, G/F, Topeka, Kansas Hoggs 16U
Alexander continues to look sharp down low as he uses his frame for spacing and speed for separation. He is a smart defender and is good at picking off passes and finishing around the rim. He has good handles for his designated position and shows bounce and quickness when making plays for himself.
23-Harvey Davis, 6’1, G/F, 2021, Topeka, KC Premiere Blue Chips 16U
A physical player who can use his frame to push his way inside and get to the basket. He has a good combination of strength and agility. Davis has the ability to score from distance and is also good in the mid-range area. A player who does a little bit of everything on the floor.
40 — Charles Snyder, 6’4, F, 2021, Emporia, SSA Elite Black 16U (pictured)
One of the state’s top forwards in the 2021 class, Snyder and Mike Cason had one of the day’s top individual match-ups on Saturday as each player took it to the other. Snyder has a nice post-up game and plays much bigger than his listed 6’4 height would suggest. He can also step out and shoot the 3 or even put it on the floor a little. Snyder is a tough, aggressive player who doesn’t back down from big match-ups.
11 — Jake Wolff, 6’1, G, 2021, MoKan 2021
Also a standout football prospect, Wolff is a strong guard who is terrific spotting up in the corners behind the 3-point arc. He is a tough, physical defender who uses his size well to wall off opposing ball handlers and keep them out of the paint. Wolff likes to shoot from the outside, but can use a head fake to help free himself and attack the basket where he is a strong finisher in the lane.
