Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the tournament’s most underrated forwards from the Kansas side.
24-Amos Munch Alford, 6’5, G/F, 2020, Grind Elite 17U
A nice player who can do his job inside and handle time on the perimeter as a point, scoring or wing player. He is great in one-on-one situations and has the skill to get where he wants whenever he wants to get there.
21-Wyatt Carmichael, 6’5, 2020, F, Grind Elite 17U
An active glue piece for Grind Elite off the bench who puts important minutes on the floor. He is very good around the basket and has good post moves that give him looks or at least a second to get his shots off.
40 — Cory Davila, 6’5, F, 2020, Basehor-Linwood, MoKan 2020
Davila has worked hard this offseason to take his game to new heights and has seen his stock rise as a result. He is a big body in the paint and brings an old-school approach to playing low post basketball, armed with an array of moves and a soft touch In the lane, He works hard to get position as shows good footwork around the basket.
35-Blake Farmer, 6’6′, 2020, Perry Lecompton, Grandstand Elite
Farmer has impressed this spring and summer with good size and a long, rangy frame. He likes to mix it up in the painting shows a soft shooting touch around the basket. He has a good feel for post play with solid fundamentals and footwork. Farmer can shoot the ball from the outside and shows an emerging shooting stoke. He is also an adept passer who sees the play as it develops in front of him.
25 — Jacob Owens. 6’10, F, 2020, Olathe South, Team KC Grey
Owens went down with an apparent foot injury in Thursday’s opening game against SSA Elite Black, but was working hard in the paint before leaving the contest. He is long, rangy and has good agility for a player 6’10. He can scrap out a tough rebound, block shots and runs the floor well, but needs to continue working on finishing in the paint to take his game to the next level.
