Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the tournament’s top stock risers from the Missouri side.
35 — Daniel Abreu, 6’5, F, 2020, Willard, Missouri Flight (pictured)
Abreu is putting together a big offseason and he helped lead Missouri Flight to the championship game in the 17U division where the Springfield-Area group lost a tough one by three points to MoKan Elite 2021. Abreu has earned several offers in recent months as he continues to impress with a well-rounded skill set. He is tough in the paint where he shows terrific footwork and a soft shooting touch, likes to face up out of the high post and can score along the baseline. Abreu has taken his 3-point shooting to new heights this summer and can help spread the floor with his ability to shoot from the outside.
7-Ben Palacios, 6’5, 2020, Saint Michaels
Palacios is among the top rising guards in the 2020 class in Missouri, armed with good length and a well-rounded skill set. He is a shooter from the wing who also makes extra passes and crashes the boards. He has good height and a thin frame and sells contact and sacrifices his body for a play. He always seems to be open and his movement off the ball comes in handy game after game.
24 — Quenton Shelton, 6’2, G, 2020, Lebanon, Carroll GoLive
A smart player with a nice mid-range and an excellent perimeter game. He is a confident shooter wherever he is on the floor. He is a good weak side help on defense and a solid passer and scorer. He rebounds on both ends and fights and can come away with the ball against those taller, stronger and more athletic.
4 — Stevie Strong, 6’0l, G, 2021, University, MoKan 2021 Elite
Strong is among Missouri’s top scoring lead guards in Missouri’s 2021 class, able to handle the point or light up the scoreboard with his outside shooting. He is tough off the bounce, gets to the basket well and is a strong finisher. He can play either guard spot as he can handle the point, or run off the ball and help space the floor for his team.
0 — Grant Stubbs, 6’5, F, 2020, Liberty, MoKan 2020
After a breakout junior season for Liberty, Stubbs is putting together a strong spring and summer running with MoKan 2020. He showed off a diverse skill set throughout the weekend, scoring around the basket, getting on the glass and breaking out a 3-point shot. He is a strong rebounder who can take the ball coast-to-coast and has the ability to finish shots in the lane with a unique set of floaters and runners.
