Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several of the tournament’s top stock risers from the Kansas side.
3 — Steele Chapman, 6’2, Haysville, Kansas Pray N Play
Chapman recently picked up offers from Newman University, Missouri Baptist and is drawing interest from several other programs as well. He is a terrific lead guard who handles it well, gets to the basket off the dribble and finishes well in the lane. He can shoot from the outside and is a tough defensive player, able to lock up opposing players.
16 — Rishaud Dockery, 6’3, G/F, 2020, Bonner Springs, Team KC Grey
Dockery is a tough competitor who does whatever it takes to help his team win. He can handle the ball, score in the paint and is an elite defender, capable of locking players up all over the court. He is coming off a strong junior season in which he averaged 11.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Dockery is poised for a breakout senior season after the graduation of guards Keyon Thomas and Alan Watson.
1 — Qua’Vez Humphrey, 6’3, G, 2020, Junction City SSA Elite Black
Humphrey showed off his athleticism with a strong showing in the Hardwood’s dunk contest on Friday. A strong, athletic player, Humphrey made his mark in the paint for SSA Elite Black this weekend, showing the ability to post up, get on the offensive glass and score easy points in the paint. He can handle the ball, score a little from the outside and brings a tough, inside-out game to the floor.
11-Norman Massey, 6’4, G/F, 2020, Wichita East, Grind Elite 17U
A hard-nosed player who is both physical and a bit of finesse. He has a strong frame and connects when he’s near the basket. He can shoot in the midrange area and has good recovery time and can get to the free throw line or block shots on the defensive end.
43 — Omar Stanley, 6’8, PF, 2020, Blue Valley West, MoKan 2020
Stanley has the size and length to be a force in the paint when he want to – at 6’8 he can overpower smaller teams around the basket and is a difference maker at the defensive end of the court. Stanley runs the floor exceptionally well, blocks shots and can get on the offensive glass. He has some nice moves in the post and can score over the top of opposing big men.
