LAWRENCE, Kan. — The 2019 Hardwood Classic wrapped up on Sunday at the Kansas Sports Pavilion with MoKan Elite 2021 defeating the Missouri Flight in the championships game.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the tournament’s top stock risers from the Missouri side.
9-Blake Danitschek, 6’5, 2021, Kapaun, Pray and Play
A nice post man who plays well facing the basket. He has a way of moving well through the lane and can flip in shots through contact. He has the game of a guard or wing at times but sees a lot of action on the block. A solid passer and 3-point shooter as well.
8 — Lonell Lane, 6’0, PG, 2021, Harmon, MoKan Elite EYBL 2021
Lane was a big part of MoKan Elite EYBL 2021 championship run as the squad played up an age group in the 17U division. Armed with a strong frame and good size, Lane has the ability to play high above the rim, throw down dunks and is extremely difficult for opposing team to keep in front of them as he can blow by most guards and get to the basket. He has an emerging outside shot, and knocked down several long range bombs in Lawrence.
9 — Alson Mason, 5’11, G, 2021, Blue Valley Northwest, MoKan Elite EYBL 2021
Mason is a talented point guard who can lead a team or score the ball from all three levels. He has handles for days, gets to the basket and finishes over bigger defenders and can knock down outside shots from well beyond the 3-point arc. He can lead a team and has terrific court vision, able to find the open man and set up others for easy chances.
12-Katrell Raimey, 6’4, G, 2020, Olathe East, Carroll GoLive
One of Kansas’ top prospects in the 2020 class, Raimey has recently picked up offers from Seton Hall, Memphis and Hofstra and after a strong run with MoKan Elite this spring and summer he joined Carroll GoLive for the weekend. He is an elite scoring option with an excellent overall skill set. Raimey has the confidence to shake off any defender and can get to the hole and jam it down someone’s throat. He looked to get those around him involved and didn’t take as many personal gambles. He fed the ball and would occasionally step back for a 3 and take the ball inside.
14-Rayshaun Riddick, 6’3, 2020, Manhattan, SSA Elite 17U White
A strong post/wing who can handle the ball and continue plays through heavily occupied areas. He plays hard and physical. He pushes his way inside and uses his strength to score against taller opponents inside the paint. A solid team player that’s ready to make a play and is looking for a steal.
11-Elijas Watson, 5’11, 2020, Shawnee Heights, Kansas Hoggs 17U
A quick guard who has confidence and a smooth game. He has good handles and can win the one-on-one game around the wing. He slips in and out of the lane at times and is a sneaky scorer. He doesn’t pass ahead often bit finds his man and gets assists through traditional bounce passes to his cutting teammates.
