LAWRENCE, Kan. — The 2019 Hardwood Classic wrapped up on Sunday at the Kansas Sports Pavilion with Howard Pulley EYBL 2021 defeating the Marcus Denmon Elite in the championships game.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the tournament’s top point guards in the 16U division from the Kansas side.
15 — Luke Adams, 6’0, G, 2021, Blue Valley North, MoKan 2021
Also known for his outside shooting, Adams has been a big part of the Blue Valley North varsity since he arrived on the scene as a freshman. Entering his junior season, he figures to be among the KC area’s top returning PG prospects in 2019-20. He is good off the bounce, likes to run the break and can help set up teammates for easy chances. Adams is at his best dialing it up from distance where he has proven to be a consistent outside shooting threat.
2 — Kyren Angelo, 5’7, G, 2021, KC Washington, Showtime 16U
Angelo is a quick guard who has a low center of gravity and the ability to lock up opposing guards as he plays tough, in-your-shorts defense. He can handle the ball and run the point and shows good court vision.
15-Carson Brading, 5’10, G, 2021, Topeka, Kansas Hoggs
Brading is a solid shooter and ball handler. He can create his own shot and is good at creating wide open looks for others as well. He has the speed needed to play up-and-down ball and can light things up from behind the line.
7-Reggie Dennis, G, Olathe West, Team KC 16U Silver
A strong, tough point guard who is capable of scoring the ball, but also brings a pass-first, pass-second mentality to the floor. He is a good defender, strong rebounder and looks to attack the basket, draw-and-kick to open shooters.
21-Geivonnii Williams, 6’0, 2021, Topeka, Kansas Hoggs
A nice point guard who can handle the ball and feed his teammates. He can create for himself and can fight through contact and get to the free throw line.
