Here, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who raised their profile with strong performances on Thursday.
24 — Javen McCray, 6’2, G/F, 2020, MO, Marcus Denmon Gold
Plays much bigger than his listed height, showing the ability to score in the paint against bigger defenders and worked hard on the glass for his team. McCray can handle the ball under pressure, create some off the bounce and showed a nice pull-up game, knocking down several mid-range jumpers throughout the weekend.
12 — Nick Arensburg, 6’0,G, Shawnee Mission East Team Yobo
A talented and creative player, Arensburg gave his team some much needed punch on Thursday as he showcased an all-around game and the ability to make plays off the bounce. He is a crafty ball handler who can get to the basket off the dribble, finishes well in traffic and is an unselfish player who looks for his teammates.
33 — Braeden Wiltse, 6’4, G/F, 2020, Mill Valley, MoKan 2020
Wiltse continues to impress with his size, length and all-around game and had all aspects working on Thursday as he showcased a smooth outside shot, the ability to handle the ball and get to the basket off the bounce. He likes to play a fast paced game and is terrific finishing in transition as he runs he court exceptionally well. Wiltse is a versatile defensive player who can guard multiple positions and works hard at that end of the floor.
40 — Mitch Munsen 6’2, G, 2020, Manhattan, SSA Elite Black
Munsen was seemingly everywhere for SSA Elite Black in a key game on Thursday against Team KC. He came up with loose balls, got offensive put backs and easy chances on the break, and made several outside shots as well. He’s known for his outside shooting, but Munsen is a complete player who plays with a big motor, diving on the floor for a loose ball or working hard on the defensive end of the court.
8 — Jackson Rone, 6’4, G, 2020, Bishop Miege. @jrflynn6
A talented wing player with terrific size, Rone brings a versatile and well-rounded skill set to the floor, able to handle the ball, rebound defend in the paint or on the perimeter.He has the size to see over the defense and is a willing and capable passer who looks for his teammates.
