These are the players that I think everyone should be watching very closely, going into the next live event! Live Period Dates: July 11th-14th/July 23rd-28th
Devontes Cobbs 6’3 2022 G Strive for Greatness/AZ Compass Prep
Cobbs has been making national media head way this summer! He is attracting a ton of people and media to his games and it is more than deserving. He is a superb athlete and every transition is a chance for a highlight dunk. Cobbs also excels on defense, always communicating and making the right reads.
Andrew King 6’1 2022 G PHH Rise/Desert Vista
King is going to be a really good player here in the near future. The kid can score the ball flat out! His shot selection could be a little bit better but that will develop as he gets older. If King can decide when to pick and choose his spots a little bit better, I think he can be one of the top scorers in the state by his junior year.
Dorell Thomas 6’4 2022 G Compton Magic/Hillcrest Prep
Thomas is a really good athlete and has just as much skill to match. He’s got a couple of college looks as of right now and I think that will continue to grow. I feel like he is a little bit of a lesser known player in AZ due to the elite guards that are at Hillcrest already, they kind of cast a big shadow. However, Thomas can definitely play and should get a little bit more respect than he has.
LJ Ginnis 5’8 2022 G Team RHJ/South Mountain
LJ Ginnis is my sleeper pick and he is a very unknown name as of right now. This kid is an amazing pure point guard. He makes all of the right reads on the floor and leads his team. His passing ability and court vision are second to none!
