These prospects all possess the ability to run the show for their teams and impact the game with their leadership and play-making ability:
Dontae Taylor – Missouri Flight Blue 17U
Dontae’s game has really evolved over the course of the last several months. A tough on-ball defender and strong driving lead guard, he has shown the ability to set the tone for his team on both ends of the floor. He is a force on the break where he can get downhill in a hurry or thread the needle with long outlets. He is a gifted passer with elite vision. That, coupled with a tight handle and quick burst allow him to slash his way into the lane and make things happen. He can drop dimes with the best in the state and has expanded his offensive game with a much improved jumper and deeper range. He played off the ball more than I’ve seen in the past over the weekend and showed the ability to move and create opportunities without the rock in his hands.
Tyler Campbell – Missouri Flight Blue 17U
Tyler really impressed me when I watched Missouri Flight Blue play on Friday. Without scoring a point, he found his way into my notes several times for his ability to run the show on a very talented team. He takes care of the basketball and is a great distributor that not only can find and dish to the open man but knows how to set his teammates up for open looks.
Terrell Kabala – Victory Ministry Blue 17U
A leader by example, Terrell proved to be the complete package for Victory Ministry Blue not only this weekend but all summer. He can, and will, do whatever is needed to put his team in position to be successful. He is a triple-double threat that can serve as a high volume scorer, drive and dish distributor, and a physical force on the glass. He is a big-time play-maker with a knack for making the right decision with the ball. Clearly, our scouts aren’t the only ones who were impressed over the weekend. Terrell announced last night his commitment to play for NCAA D2 University of Arkansas – Fort Smith.
Demarcus Sanford Jr – St. Louis Blazers 16U
Demarcus, in my opinion, has made the case this summer to move up in our 2021 rankings. He has a lot of projectability. It starts with his frame. At 6’2, you can tell from his long wingspan that there is still room to grow. He will grab a board or steal, blow by defenders in transition, and can finish with authority at the rim. He is a very good shooter from the outside, but when it wasn’t falling at times over the weekend he did an excellent job of drawing his man out for an iso, breaking him down, and finding open an open target for a bucket.
Marcus Pepper – St. Louis Blazers 16U
Marcus was one of the top stockrisers over the weekend. He was the picture of poise for the Blazers throughout the weekend. When it was crunch time, you could feel comfortable that with him in control something good was likely to happen. He can flip the switch from distributor to scorer when needed, and impressed with his ability to execute and thrive in high pressure moments multiple times.
