Washington County made a nice run into the playoffs last season before coming up short to a tough Henderson Collegiate squad. They return a nice amount of talent but also will bring in 2020 PG Rashod Smith who put up some monster numbers at his previous school for the last few years. The combination of Smith, Downing, Harris and more should make for a nice group of talent at Washington County.
Henderson Collegiate & Royal Knights Guard Kalib Matthews is off the board as he committed to Queens University last week. Matthews was a player that was under the radar for a while but broke out last high school season and this summer with Royal Knights after some very impressive performances. You can play him on the wing or allow him to be a playmaker at times as a PG, he’s versatile and does a nice job on the defensive side of the ball as well.
South Central Forward Dayron Sharpe will be making the trip down to Florida as he has decided to attend Montverde Academy to finish out his high school career. Sharpe was an absolute beast all season long, helping to lead his squad to an undefeated record and was putting together double/doubles on a regular basis.
WBC Elite Senior Forward Kwashek Breeden has committed to Lawson State Community College as he has decided to take the JUCO route. Breeden put together a nice season at Lumberton high and has played well with WBC Elite , his scoring and rebound plus ability to play above the rim are things that you have to like about his game.
Grace Christian 2020 Guard Phil Martin Jr has picked up interest from: Mars Hill, Lees Mcrae and NC Wesleyan. Martin Jr is one of the best shooters in the area, we have seen him catch fire on quite a few occasions so it will be interesting to see how things play out for him during his senior year.
Team Felton & Northwood Temple 2020 Wing Reggie Raynor picked up an offer from Lees Mcrae this week. Raynor holds offer from schools such as: Mount Olive and Catawba as well, his athletic ability is a trait that has intrigued the college coaches without a doubt. Not only can he use his bounce to throw down dunks but he also looks to make plays above the rim defensively, blocking and altering shots.
The New Light Disciples had a good summer with several players picking up offers and interest. 2020 Guard Trent McIntyre and 2020 Forward Tyler Young both picked up an offer from Mount Olive College. While 2021 Guard Jamari Thomas has loaded up on interest, schools such as: ECU, App State, Elon, VA Tech and Campbell are all showing interest in the impressive guard.
