However, many great players participate in other sports during the high school offseason. Here are a few players that should light up the football field on Fridays coming this fall.
Jalan Early – Millennium
He is a big part of the Tiger team that was just a point away from a 5A state title this past season, driving to the hoop using his athleticism and playing good man defense. In football, he is the starting quarterback for a Millennium team, coached by his father, that also has championship aspirations.
Jason Harris – Higley
This is an obvious choice, because he stands out so much in both sports. He is a 20-point and 10-rebound guy for the Knights basketball team, leading in both categories. In football, he recorded nine sacks in 11 games as a defensive lineman last season. He holds college offers in both sports.
Caden Owens – Mogollon
The only junior on this short list, Caden averaged over 15 points as a sophomore last season for the Mustangs, who finished 22-4 and had a playoff run. In football, he was a contributor with 19 tackles on a team that went 8-2.
Tosh Baker – Pinnacle
A major part of back-to-back state basketball champions, Baker was tremendous using his big body under the rim to protect the basket, secure rebounds, and score from in close. In football, he is one of the state’s best offensive linemen, and is committed to Notre Dame.
