Matt Rogers Earns First Offer
This past weekend after playing in front of numerous division one programs, 6’8 2020 Matt Roger’s picked up his first few offers from Boston University, Fairfield, UMass Lowell, Binghamton and Air Force. Rogers is a very good shot maker that has good size to where he can finish down low on guys but also on the perimeter with his jumper.
National Christian Is Loaded
This National Christian team has a chance to be very good. They are led by the top prospect in the 2021 class from Maryland/DC, in Jakai Robinson. At the other guard spot, Arnardo Camacho runs the show and he had a very impressive weekend. He is a hard playing 6’3 guard that is vocal and has a lot of playmaking abilities. Down low 2020 6’10 Oumar Kouressi is an absolute beast who mentioned he is starting to get some high major attraction. And then there is the 18th ranked prospect in our 2021 rankings in 6’9 John Izemef who has great leaping ability where he can finish strong above the rim, catch alley oops and block shots. He also displayed some nice hook shots over his defenders. Expect this team to make a lot of noise in the upcoming season.
SSSA Guards Go Off
In the game of the weekend, it was St. Stephens & St. Agnes with a two point win over DeMatha, 69-67. We are not talking about a SSSA win if was not for the guard play and the difficult shots these guys made. The Saint’s were led by 2020 Jared Cross who had a game high 27 points in which he made 6 triples. 2020 Jamal Barnes also went 2/4 from behind the arc and then the game winning three with under 10 seconds left went to 2020 Xavier Lipscomb.
Jason Edokpayi Intrigues
Jason brings really good athleticism and versatility to the court for this Mt. St. Joe’s team. In the time I was evaluating him he rose up numerous times for blocks and got up strong for rebounds. He was definitely one of the better athletes in the gym however I did not see him shoot the ball all that well. If he gets better with his jumper I believe this could be one of the more underrated prospects in Maryland.
Deshawn Harris-Smith Is Next Up For PVI
The Panthers are at it again bringing some of the top freshman into Fairfax and this time it is 2023 Deshawn Harris-Smith. Deshawn already has good size at 6’4 and overall looks a lot more advanced than a lot of other freshman you see at this time during their high school career. Deshawn is going to get a fair amount of minutes this year for Paul VI and is someone coaches should already be monitoring.
