Total Team Effort
The 16U squad had a big time convincing win over Oklahoma Run PWP with a score of 56-30. It was a total team effort with a true balance of scoring. They played some of the best team ball that I saw on Saturday. 2021 big man Zaakir Williamson led the team with 14 points on 5-7 from the field. Below is a quick rundown of the guys that scored to show off the balance this team has.
2021 Zaakir Williamson: 14 points
2021 Wesley Peterson: 10 points
2021 Kino Lilly: 7 points
2021 Abdou Samb: 6 points
2021 James Gross: 6 points
2021 Bez Mbeng: 5 points
2021 Daysjuan Waters: 5 points
2021 Devin Ceaser: 3 points
DeLonnie Hunt Shows Incredible Leadership
The rising senior did not have the best game from a statistical standpoint but he came up huge in two different ways. The first way was how he was constantly leading his team and being vocal all game long. He was bringing his teammates together during dead balls and always keeping the spirits positive just like every lead guard should do.
The other big way he came up tonight was him hitting the game winning bucket with 8.8 seconds left. Premier was up double digits most of the second half but found themselves tied with Wisconsin Playground with 8.8 seconds left until Hunt made a tough long range pull up to give them the win. This shot was the only shot Hunt made Saturday evening from the field.
Anwar Gill Leads Premier In Win
Ever since Gill has announced he will be doing a prep year and re-classing into the 2020 class, I have not seen him that much doing live basketball activities. Tonight he was great for Premier finishing with 23 points which was mostly from runners and floaters around the rim. He had one impressive crossover that led to a step back 3 from the corner that was eye popping. Another thing that stood out was his physical attributes. You can definitely tell Gill has been putting work in the gym working on his body.
