Saturday afternoon was another opportunity to see some new names as well as familiar faces that are names to know in this class.
DSJ Elite Guard Eli Smith: Handled a lot of the PG duties for his squad and was pretty solid throughout the game that we saw. He’s quick and crafty with the ball, although he is smaller in height and weight, his speed and ability to break down a defender makes him an asset on the court.
Underground Phenoms Guard Dana Woodley: The silky smooth 6’4 guard is one to add to your list if you’re looking for a player that can flat out put the ball in the bucket. In the game that we saw he went for 30+ points and didn’t seem to force a single thing, he found gaps in the defense and finished some tough buckets over defenders.
Underground Phenoms Guard Caleb Kenney: Probably had the dunk of the tournament with a monster throw down against Team Felton that had just about everybody in the gym out of their seats. He has a long wingspan, nice athletic ability and an impressive overall skillset that you have to love, was one of the more efficient players that we saw on the day.
Team Felton Guard Brock Williams: Smaller in height but can flat out fill it up when it comes to scoring the ball. Elon recently offered and you can see why, as he is the type of player that can get you a bunch of buckets in a short span on time. The next step for him will be to increase his ability to get his teammates going early on and picking his spots as the game goes on.
DSJ Elite Guard Makoa Suriago: At the start of the game he knocked down shots from deep at a pretty high rate, which is something that we have seen him do on a pretty consistent basis. However even when the shots stopped falling as frequently, he still founds ways to make an impact on the game by making plays for teammates and defending at a solid level without fouling.
Team Felton Guard Jaden Ellis: Already holds a D1 offer and you don’t have to watch him for a very long time to see why he’s worthy of it. His scoring is what will get your attention but he does a ton of the small things that you love to see from a PG. Getting teammates involved, constantly talking on the court , applying defensive pressure and keeping his TO’s pretty low we’re all things we saw from him.
Team Cobras Guard Kadyn Dawkins: Continues to get better each time we get the opportunity to see him play. He scores the ball at a high level and is constantly pushing the tempo to force the defense on their heels.
