Continue ReadingWe will conclude our preview of the battle of Georgia with the preview of the 17u division. This division is loaded with 8 national powerhouse squads. All 8 squads have major D1 prospects on their squads. It would have been nice if AOT played in this event. For some reason, they declined to participate. Let’s take a look at the 17u division and all the matchups for the Battle of Georgia. I will also put in parentheses where these teams will play next week during the live period.
GAME ELITE JB ( Adidas Summer Championship) vs Team Forrest (Elite 32 or Best of South)
Game Elite JB has one of the best backcourts on the Adidas circuit, KD Johnson and Caleb Byrd. They propelled Game Elite to the Adidas Gold Finale in 2 weeks in California. Add Sion James to the mix, Game Elite JB has a nice big 3. Team Forrest is loaded with talent also. One name that has skyrocketed in the rankings this spring is, 6-10 Christian Fussell. He has picked up offers from a lot of MM schools. Add Melvin Edwards, Marcellious Lockett, and Trashawn Wilson, Team Forrest could win this event.
GEORGIA KNIGHTS( Elite 32 or Best of the South) vs Team Georgia Magic (Elite 32)
Two of the best independent teams in the state, battle it out in this contest . The knights have a 3 headed monster with, Chris Youngblood 6-3, Brandon Stroud 6-6, Ra’sean Frederick 6-5. Georgia Magic has a Top 100 player for the 2021 class in Kowacie Reeves. Reeves, who recently picked an offer from Georgia Tech, can score anywhere on the court. He will be assisted by Quay Primas, 6-6 interior force. Add Javian Mosley and Bryson Wooten, the Magic could make some noise during the live period.
ATLANTA CELTICS ( Adidas Summer Championship) vs Warner Robins All Stars ( Elite 32)
This game resembles a NCAA tournament matchup when a 1 seed plays a 16 seed. Warner Robins All Stars, won the Battle of Georgia back in April. Keshaun Houser leads the way for the all stars. Atlanta Celtics, has one of the best backcourts on any circuit.
Dwom Odom(Xavier commit), Caleb Murphy, Toneari Lane, and Devion Smith, lead the way for the Celtics. Warner Robins All Stars won’t lay down for the Celtics. This will be a fast paced game with a lot of guard play.
GEORGIA STARS (P.I.T.) VS ATLANTA XPRESS ( UAA FINALS)
The only 1st round matchup that puts two shoe circuit teams against each other is this contest.The stars, hadn’t been in the Peach Jam for several years now. They have a nice group of talent with,Lamar Oden, Naheim Alleyne, and Jordan Meka. The Xpress is led by, Jamaine Mann and Kendall Latney. The Xpress still has a chance to make it in the UAA finals. This game will be a shootout.
