This year’s Battle For Georgia tournament will have a 15U division this year after only having a 16U and 17U bracket last summer. The Battle For Georgia fields includes the top shoe sponsored and non-shoe sponsored grassroots teams in the state.
This year’s first ever 15U field will include Game Elite Big 5, Game Elite JB, Double Trouble, Tri City Elite, Georgia Stars, Team YRN, Atlanta Xpress, and TSF Mack. The 16U field will include H.Y.P.E Hawks, Georgia Stars, Game Elite, Team EAT, Atlanta Xpress, Team YRN, Team Forrest, and Atlanta Celtics, The 17U field will include Game Elite JB, Georgia Stars, Atlanta Xpress, Team Forrest, Atlanta Celtics, Warner Robins All Stars, Team Georgia Magic, and the Georgia Knights.
Matchups have been released and also the brackets. The first round matchups in the 15U division will begin at 10:30am and will feature Game Elite Big 5 vs Tri City Elite, Team YRN vs Atlanta Xpress, TSF Mack vs Double Trouble, and Georgia Stars vs Game Elite JB. The 16U bracket first round matchups will follow up after at 11:40am and will include H.Y.P.E Hawks vs Team EAT, Game Elite vs Atlanta Express, Georgia Stars vs Team YRN, and Atlanta Celtics vs Team Forrest. At 12:50pm the 17U bracket will tip off. Atlanta Celtics vs Warner Robins All Stars, Game Elite JB vs Team Forrest, Georgia Knights vs Team Georgia Magic, and the Georgia Stars vs Atlanta Xpress round out the matchups.
A plethora of top players in the state are expected to be competing with their respective squads. Top prospects like 2020 PG Deivon Smith, Xavier commit 2020 PG Dwon Odom, 2021 F Matthew Cleveland, 2020 C Christian Fussell, 2022 PG Sterling “Scoota” Henderson, 2022 PG Dillon Hunter, 2022 F Joyful Hawkins, 2021 F Jabari Smith Jr., 2020 PG Caleb Byrd, 2021 SG Garrison Powell, and plenty more. This tournament is a great starting point before the July live period later in the week. Players are coming off their June player camps and other team camps with their respective high school teams and will get a run in against high level talent before they head off to their respective circuits or tournaments.
