Doreante Tucker 6’1″ Cape Elite: One of the best slashing threats that I watched over the weekend, the Cape Girardeau Central standout could get to the basket and score just about any time he wanted to. He could go coast to coast in the full court for layups and break down defenders in the half court offense. He can change speeds and directions, plus he displayed the ability to score with both hands while on the move. His form on his perimeter jumper is good and if he can become more consistent with it, he will become even more of a force on the offensive end.
Sam Richardson 6’5″ Arsenal Hoops Elite:The athletic wing from Hancock displayed his fine all-around game at both ends of the court throughout the weekend. He displayed a versatile offensive game with perimeter shooting, transition dunks and some post-ups around the basket. He is an active rebounder who gets out of his area to grab boards. He also has a high motor on the defensive end, especially at the top of his team’s zone trap where he can really use his length. He does a little of everything to help his team win.
Justice Thoma 6’4″ Silver Bullets: The physical wing player from Cape Notre Dame was very impressive throughout the weekend with his combination of skill and toughness. His mid-range jumper was on point as he got to his spots and had good elevation on his jumper. He also attacked the basket and finished in the paint, plus he knocked down some open 3-pointers. He had a very solid junior season, but he is primed for a big senior year in 2020.
John Weik 6’4″ STL Shooting Stars: It was my first time seeing this talented youngster from Jefferson High and he was very impressive. In the first game I saw him play, he scored 15 points in about a 10-minute stretch of play and he was a whirlwind on both ends of the floor. He shot the 3-pointer well, got buckets on the drive and was very unselfish doing it. He also played some spirited defense and he blocked a few shots and created a few turnovers.
Devon Barshow 6’6″ Arsenal Hoops: The long and lanky wing player from McCluer has a very impressive skill set in which he can play the point and facilitate the offense or make plays from the wing. He can really shoot the basketball from 3-point range, but he has spent much of the grassroots season showing his ability to make plays off the dribble and handle pressure. He is just starting to come into his own as a player and he is a weight room away from being an excellent, excellent prospect.
Samuel Bledsoe 6’2″ Silver Bullets: The sniper from Charleston High was one of the best perimeter shooters in the tournament. He hit six 3-pointers in his first game out the box and kept it going throughout the weekend. His range is deep, his release is quick and his confidence level is high. He was also good at shooting it in transition. He is also starting to make plays off the dribble as he was very aggressive on the bounce.
Sylvon Mosley 6’3″ Arsenal Hoops Elite: An athletic and lanky wing player from McCluer North who did a nice job of getting buckets from a number of positions on the floor. He played well within his team’s offense as he scored off cuts to the basket and got out in transition to make plays. He is at his best on offense when he was on the move and slashing to the basket in an up tempo game.
Cole Weber 6’3″ STL Shooting Stars: An impressive wing shooter from Borgia who enjoyed a number of games where he hit multiple 3-pointers. He played very well without the ball and he got himself to the open spots and his teammates did a good job of finding him when he had the hot hand.
Kendrick Brown 6’3″ SEMO Select: An explosive wing from Poplar Bluff who makes a lot of plays with his athleticism and high rate of activity. He slashes to the basket well and he can knock down a 15 footer off the bounce. He is a strong rebounder who can also get busy in the transition game.
Ethan Worley 6’2″ SI Select: A solid wing player who also did his share of ball handling and facilitating of the offense throughout the weekend. He did a nice job making decisions with the ball and he didn’t make a lot of mistakes. He also moved well when he played off the ball and shot it well from distance.
